Room For All

Last night, as we spaced out in front of the TV the door bell rang. Standing there was a young woman, shivering in inadequate clothing. She asked to use the phone. I invited her to step inside and handed over my phone. Her call wasn't answered and we sat her in the kitchen to figure out the next move. We spent an hour trying to find her a safe space for the night. The biggest 'Bible based' church said they could arrange a hotel room for the night. While that was being arranged I got a text message from someone we had contacted saying she is 'wanted' and occasionally violent.

Next I noticed a car pulling up outside, blocking our driveway, and hubby went to see who it was, somewhat cautiously. 'Twas the RCMP who gave us a quick update, came in, slapped the woman in handcuffs and told her why she was getting arrested.

Interesting things happen in sleepy northern towns!

Interesting things also happen on computers and I have no idea why this post is now using italics!

Wow Kay. What an adventure. Your woman made me think of women I've met in my work who fit that description. They were often the people who caused me more concern. They also frustrated me at times. I hope she gets the help she needs

Be very cautious ... hostility patterns spread faster than intelligent behaviour ... with exceptions for those populaces out of here ... and presently looking back at the mess we're in ...

May be my temporal state as dark and mysterious ide ... most have never seen a temporal state as pious folk deny it ... too moving! Thus mess I awe ... if you have a spark to light to expose it ... tinder required as pre requisite by chance ...

I got the impression from the RCMP guys that she has had help - that didn't help. So often the case when people grow up in abusive environments - home , then foster care then 'Juvie' etc.. Our society definitely needs more healing spaces for people like that.

Good morning! Quite the experience, Kay, glad you got through it safely. The coffee cart is ready. to share such experiences, and unpack them on conversation and support. All is ready, come and get it.

Wee little thing is growing fast and showing a strong personality. Sometimes we miss it when she was smaller and less demanding.
I posted some new pics on my profile.
On the 15th, after a quick trip to the Brazilian Embassy, she became a Brazilian citizen. Soon to become Italian as well.
We gonna spend the next few days with my inlaws in the country - the four of us are looking forward to it. Baby's first Nowell will be great!

Wow. She hasn't even left Canada and she has triple citizenship. She's got quite a life ahead of her, I think. Enjoy baby's first Christmas. It may be the only one where you don't have to worry about her getting up at 6 to see what Santa brought. :santa:

An industrious multinational?

Enjoy the first Christmas with her! I pulled up some old Christmas pictures from my oldest nephew's first Christmas, taking with a tablet I rarely use and forgotten about. It was the first time they left him with other people, leaving him with my parents for less than 30 min while they drove to see Christmas lights. Now any chance to not supervise the kids they take! And they get big so fast!

Got a call at 3.20 am from my neighbour’s daughter. 91 year old mother is on the way to the hospital but they can’t leave hubby with his dementia alone. ( the last time she went to the hospital, hubby still had the car in the driveway and despite telling his daughter he will wait until they come, he got in the car and drove to the hospital, were he circled the place , waiting for her to come out. Scared us all and the car is gone since.)
Daughter takes 50 minutes to get here, so I sent mother off and sent hubby back to bed while waiting her arrival. Felt quite awake since then, but now after work, supper and doing the dishes I am ready to crash- which I can’t do at 7 pm or I will be awake at 2 am again.
I cancelled one of the Christmas get together with friends, still hoping to go to one of the two planned. Again record numbers of Covid today, close to 700, and over 3000 in total within about a week.
NS is running out of testing capacity. We have been told we might get called back from vacation or sent to different sites if staff shortages occur. So far so good. According to CBC, three hospitals in NS had less that 5 people outbreaks. Thankfully, not mine. I am hoping to get through tomorrows half day without having to go into a Covid room, because even with PPE, I would not go to any Christmas party if there was any chance of infection.
( knowing that our surgical masks don’t really cut it- which Western Europe was saying all along).

Good morning! As we begin to celebrate the Light that came into the world, may we remember that no darkness will overcome it. The coffee cart is up and running, help yourself.

Is that light sacred ... obviously hidden out of common sense if one digs into the metaphors meant to keep folks excited over unknowns?

Thus the light might be in a mighty inky word ... and overlooked by those not reading intu*it! Such sentient factors may be blind sapient from the lower portions of the tree ... roots of the story ...

Fun drive home yesterday. First real winter commute. There was a disabled bus ahead of me that kept sliding and fishtailing. My little crossover held up well but I am a fairly careful driver and it is well-prepared for this crap weather with such goodies as ABS, traction control, and winter tires.

What if the buss was a quis ... and that could open some portal!

Th mystical goes on ... fey and flighty ... sometimes ephemeral ... there was a novel about a guy hit by a bus ... it can be a disaster ... get out of the way!

Like a two edged blade ... you could disappear without that haft ... and as with stone ... hard to retract ... bleeding relations ... like blood brothers and no one had a clue about the Çis turn! (given in some aboriginal tongues "Çis" is a small ID!)

A stream with a Çis behind it still flows ... like c'est fini when flowing in the Zae ... and hard to hold in your hand ...

Good morning all, Merry Christmas. Lots of good baking here today, along with the usual coffee, tea, chocolate and such. Enjoy the snacks and the company today.

Merry Christmas from snowy Vancouver Island. Our friends say it's the first white Christmas they've had in 11 years

It's almost not-white here, in contrast, as we've had warm temps and drizzle last two days or so. Weather's supposed to turn a bit colder starting tomorrow.

So, tried a new concoction this afternoon, the PC chocolate eggnog. In a word or two, as a customer said to me when I enquired about "oat"nog, "if you put enough spiced rum in it you don't care much"...

My friend who used to make a glorious spiked nog for his family's Christmas Eve reception would like be horrified, but agree on the rum part.
