I met one of those young fellas today in the store. It seemed to be requiring the attentive efforts of Mom AND grandma to keep him from climbing everything that he thought looked climbable. About two, I would think.

Greetings! Happy Friday! As we remember walks and trestle bridges, 2-y-o with energy to climb such bridges and grocery shelves, for the little gremlins affecting sewing machines, phones, and everything in between, let us gather round the coffee cart, for conversation and hot beverages.

Dang, never thought you would be the one to beat me to cracking a horror movie joke.

I saw Gremlins with my family at the cottage. We drove to Minden to see it. Then it was kind of dark and stormy on the way back. Love the movie. The sequel was fun, too, but played more to the comedy side. I thought the original balanced humour and horror better.

We even had a cat called "a little machine" ... or Gizmos .... that looked like a wee Yoda!

Well, we were supposed to BBQ tonight. Forecast said only a 40% risk of precipitation even this morning so Mrs. M got the meat marinading. Then what happens? About 3-3:30, the sky darkens. We check the hourly forecast and radar and, yeah, not good. So I scrambled to do the grilling before the storm hit. Got it done just in time. Now it's like night out there and the rain is coming down pretty hard. Supposed get snow or flurries on Sunday.

Hasn't happened here yet.

My sister has a cat named Gizmo. Sort of a mad thing, but her three cats are so spoiled that what's a little crazy?

She has three tuxedoes: Moose, Gizmo and Evvie (short for Evinrude; used to be my son's cat; she's a bit of a dominant interloper, and she's also almost a pure black cat, with only a couple of small white patches). I'm guessing that all three are mid-teens at present.

Good morning, all. Saturday has arrived. We think about weather, and cats and their antics (and names, too). The coffee cart is up and running, help yourself.

Good evening, dear friends!
My wife and I are delighted to announce the safe arrival of our daughter on Tuesday 9th November 2021, at 10.41 am, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. We named her Leonor Jacqueline Antoinette. The baby weighs 5 pounds and 2'8 ounces. After a two-day stay at the hospital, we came home on Thursday. Mother and child are both doing well. Leonor is a great sleeper and a hungry baby!

Oh Hugs, GiancarloZ! I'd wondered how you were doing? Early parenthood is such an exhausting but precious time (and the first is just sorta magical).

Congratulations! Pop in occasionally, please, to update us!

Good morning! Happy Sunday! As we join in celebrating a new birth, lt us raise our dups and mugs in a toast to the gift of life. The cart is up and running to meet your hot beverage needs. Help yourself.

Drinking Cream of Earl Grey tea from David's today.

Current writing project is a 500 word ghost story for a small press competition that someone posted about on StoriesSpace. I set it in a small woodlot near my home where I go a lot when walking for exercise. Due date is end of this month, first prize is US$75, and there is possible publication on their website. Most importantly to my eye, if they get enough good entries, the press might do an anthology with an additional US$50 for stories that get included in that (plus a free e-book copy of the anthology). I.e. my first actual professional publication is a possible outcome here. It is amazing how much work 500 words is taking. My first two ideas simply could not be done in that short a span (one might get finished for publication elsewhere eventually) and even this one is needing a fair bit of massaging to keep it in bounds as I do proofing and editing.

If this one flies, I'm really thinking of devoting more time to writing and getting stories out to some of these small press sites where I might get more attention and some professional publication history.
