Room For All

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

A community where we discuss, share, and have some fun together. Join today and become a part of it!

No snow in the area where I lie, but not far off (toward the Lake Huron shores) they had some. Hang tough all, only 139 days till spring....

A dusting on the ground here this morning. Likely won't last long once the sun rises, but it is only the beginning.

Good morning! The ground here is covered with a bit of snow as well, Hopefully it, too, will go away as the sun starts to rise. But the coming cold weather cannot overcome the warmth of the community and the beverages at the coffee cart. C'mon in, warm up, and be warmed by the conversations.

Many beginnings although there is a sector that are dazed by the concept that these are all connected somewhere alien ... like out there!

Isn't that faro Ute like Pharaoh designated as distant line ... poly misinterpreted so you could view it from beyond belief! An Odi or a OBI ... Shekinah?

It rained heavily through the night here. It's raining now. I'll be staying inside sewing today.

I had dental work at noon, so I'm sore and grumpy today. *Bette plods off to sit in a corner with a warm afghan and a book or three, and a tepid cup of tea.*

Junior will do my undercoating and tire change tomorrow.

Spoke to a patient today who was #7 of 16 siblings. He also had a couple helpful supportive kids himself , one of them a nurse. I told him that I had that theory that four kids would be ideal, one a lawyer, one a nurse or physician, one a dentist and one an auto mechanic. I only made it to the auto mechanic.

Part way to the auto mon ... some work autonomously others alternate!

I have three children, and none of them are in, or heading to, careers in anything that might ever be helpful to me. The one in Oz is a postie, with dreams of ecological anarchy, the oldest boy here is a cleaner/janitor (also an artist, poet, by nature, but who makes a living on that), the daughter is a civil engineer hopeful, also yoga teacher, retail worker, and shooter girl in bars. So no, any "helpful" my children might be is more psychic than practical, LOL.

I need an implant done but now my cataract is kind of taking priority as a medical concern. Half-blind in one eye trumps missing tooth, I think.

Spent the last couple days attending a Microsoft conference. This one is usually a big in-person shindig but this year they split it into two shorter virtual events, one in the Spring and one in the Fall (which is when the in-person one used to happen). I have come to the conclusion that I prefer in person conferences, esp. for interactive sessions. I went to one "Ask the Experts" session and I was the only one to ask a question. You had to post it in chat.

And, as mentioned in another thread, I was struggling with insomnia for like three days. Last night was my first good sleep this week. Still not sure what set it off. Not especially stressed or anything right now. Caffeine consumption hasn't gone up (actually lower than last week since I haven't been to work, where I tend to drink more tea than at home).

Just heard a sad story today...Someone from our church had a knee replacement earlier this year, and it was quite a painful ordeal to recover. She needed some help from church people because she lives alone and has no family. She went to the dentist a couple of weeks ago...And now her knee is really sore. A trip to the doctor and the as yet unconfirmed suspicion is that she has blood poisoning, initiated by the dentist appointment. She may need to do the whole knee replacement all over again.

I should point out that this was not the dentist's fault...Apparently it happens sometimes after knee or hip replacements.

Oh dear. You had something major going on at the beginning of the pandemic I seem to recall.

Yes, broken tooth from years ago, crown finally quit. So then a choice between implant and a simple one-tooth bridge. But it's a two stage thing, versus the implant, twice as many appointments, twice as much money. Given that this is my money, and my super low tolerance for people messing about in my mouth, for a tooth you can't even see, went for the bridge. Careful with the dental plans you acquire after retirement; the best are often inferior to what you had as an employee, and restorative isn't often part of it.

People are supposed to tell their dentists about their joint replacements and might get antibiotics after procedures to avoid this. The body is a bit more likely to have infections go into the artificial knee as it is a foreign thing to their body. Usually, they get bombarded with antibiotics and the joint cleaned out but it can be a very lengthy healing process. Actually, any infection can get into an artificial joint.

We are simply loosing our dental plan with retirement thats why I am starting to get work done now. Getting mine on the 16 th.

Good morning, all! Happy Thursday, As we commiserate about dental work, insurance plans, joint surgery, and all the other curveballs life throws our way, let us gather round the coffee cart, for beverages and chit chat, etc. All is ready.
