I needed a day off from February dread. Took my new car to the city. My Kia’s name is Mia- we went to Ikea. ( and Costco, but that doesn’t rhyme. Now it has 1000km on it.

We had a great walk in a local park today. A big chunk of it is off-leash and there's a dog play area that is by the water. Baela had a great time and we enjoyed watching the dogs play. She scored a new ball too.

Dogs do seem to enjoy the cold and snow more than us, at least some breeds. My beagle used to love being out in winter and getting him home could be a challenge even on the coldest days.

Thank you for the 'starter' today Redbaron! I'm happy to report I saw my little Cape May Warbler return to my suet feeder today - it is a rare winter bird in this area - first ID'd it a week or so ago but hadn't seen it since. We are tidying up, vacuuming (have been a little slack on housekeeping lately - amongst other things!); I have to do a bit of zoom 'practice' later as I'm hosting a meeting next week & need to share some slides and videos which I have never done. Tried it out yesterday, think I have it mostly figured out, but want to make sure & practice a bit. Then tonight - euchre WITH FRIENDS! LOL - it will of course be online, as we're not able to gather in person - but the trickster cards website we use allows us to each also turn on video/audio so it's the next best thing to sitting together at the table. Looking forward to that Have a good weekend everyone & stay safe & cozy.

Lucy is a husky hound cross (at least) and man does she love the snow. She makes a lot of doggy snow angels along our walks, and for some reason, is constantly snapping up little bits of snow to "eat". I'm wondering if she's getting scent that way.

Anybody able to explain to me what is the difference between football and rugby? Don’t they both run over a field clutching an oddly shaped ball?

Rugby players are tougher, I assume, given the lack of body armour (with Aussie Rules Football, which is more like rugby than North American football, players being allegedly the toughest).

And, IIRC, they never kick the ball in rugby, while in North American football you have kick-offs, field goals, conversions, etc. where someone kicks the ball, usually trying to get it between the goal posts.

Sadly, rugby kind of got supplanted here by American football (and Canadian football, since we have a couple rules differences up here). I think it's what Grandad played in high school, though (successful track athlete and "football" player to the point that at least one university actively tried to recruit him). I actually did a unit on rugby in gym class in high school, but I'm not sure that we even had a rugby team. Football, hockey, and basketball were the big sports, with a football player from my high school who was a couple years ahead of me ending up South of the border in the NFL.

Kind of like the difference between poise and pose ... yet one poses that you should run hard to avoid getting kicked and taking the punishment for the ball ... that isn't kicked in one form of the game. Why? Tis a mystery ... maybe it is in how you say it ...
