FIRST for coffee this morning. c(_)

Next I will pop over to a certain thread where I can take my turn in LAST place.

Yesterday was an exercise in new techie experiences for me. I was taped for a church service, two in a row. When I looked at it last night, I saw too many things that bugged me about the way I presented And then yesterday afternoon, I was supposed to be at a virtual baby shower over skype. It was an utter and disorganized disaster. So I ducked out early, because I couldn't see anything and no one introduced anyone else. The only highlight was that a little baby caught my eye and we happily waved at each other.

I am not surprised to hear that a virtual baby shower didn't work out too well. The virtual coffee times we have at church are meeting with some success but a half hour is more than enough. There are certain tricks to organizing these things. I see some similarities to real life gatherings but there are lots of differences, too.

The Don arrives as Eris ... to the rest've the syndrome! Scattered thoughts that a mystery arranged ... so the gravitas needs to go gather!

It might depend on the size of the Zoom gathering. We have used it for bible study and it worked out fine. For a larger crowd you can do breakout groups on Zoom but we haven't tried that yet. We are all learning as we go here. New world, isn't it?

I note that Wesley-Knox has gone with a pre-recorded Youtube service but is using Zoom for meetings and an upcoming study based on a Great Courses lecture series by Bart Ehrmann ("How Jesus Became God"). I shall post more in the Worship During Covid thread.

There is one church here doing a live Zoom service followed up a coffee time. Later in the day they post an edited You Tube version. This seems to be working out very well for them.

My friend was mentioning that her Al Anon group used the break out room function the other day & it worked very well! I have never tried it myself. It is indeed a very new world :-)

Do the break-out rooms come equipped with coffee makers and tea pots? They should....

At the virtual shower, besides it being a horrible experience....I missed snacks! And goofy prizes. What is a baby shower without those?

In these times of restriction, I am not doing any real life baking. But I am happy to whip up a virtual coffee cake.

Enjoy a slice or two with your coffee. c(_)

I still bake. I usually have a pantry full of baking supplies but, unfortunately, I don't have company to help me eat some of it! Every Monday I post an easy, peasy recipe on my facebook page...something that my family has enjoyed in the past. Yesterday, it was 'brownies'.

I have never done much baking. But I know some bakers who have the same problem you are describing @Nancy. There is a mismatch between the amount of baking they like to do and the people that are available to eat all of it. Your virtual baking is always welcome here.

It's too much temptation for me to keep baking ingredients around. It's better if I don't buy them in the first place. It would be great if I had people waiting to help me eat it all, but usually there isn't.
I love to bake, but it's too much to ask myself to put batches of cookies in the freezer or portioning up muffins and bread etc.
I just know myself too well.....sigh
Sad but true.
