Carolla...that bread looks amazing! And cinnamon-anything is my favourite, or ...one of my favourites (too many favourites to mention!!!). I made it through a whole day of work yesterday, with energy to do a few things once I got home. I was so proud of myself! But then, the sinus headache returned with a vengeance. One of the miseries of this particular bug is that you think it is over, but it just goes into hiding for while, and returns in a different format. I've been slowly returning to normal life, and I suddenly have come to appreciate normal life! Take care everyone....and let's all get our flu shots next year!

We were up early this morning and rewarded with a beautiful view of the full moon half hour before sunrise.

After breakfast I cubed pork roast while Seelerman chopped up the cabbage. A few more ingredients and into the crock pot it went. We're looking forward to a tasty supper tonight.

Very cold out today with a beautiful blue sky. Most welcome after three days confined to home with freezing rain and snow, ice pellets and other unpleasant weather.

Good morning. I hope you're resting and feeling better @Nancy That meal sounds yummy @Seeler

Day is just starting here. It's cool and overcast right now. A good day to start slowly with a coffee.

But then, the sinus headache returned with a vengeance.

My sinuses are, or used to be, my Achilles Heel so you have my sympathies. I've gone a couple winters without major trouble, though. Not sure why other than I haven't had the flu (thank you, flu shot) or even a bad cold recently. Those usually segue to a sinus infection for me.

Middle son...the one due to get married in June....got laid off work on Thursday. So far, he is trying to drum up a consulting business, has met with a local entrepreneur on mentorship, and continues to make items out of 'captured carbon' in his company IPI Creations. (I am wearing a ring he made...love it). He said that he will even get into building fences for people if nothing else turns up. He has many talents, so here is hoping....

That's hard, Nancy, but seems to be part of the "real world" today. Serial careers, often contract work, etc. Sounds like he's not afraid of work, which is the key to success, I think.

Although today I decided that "baskets" are the grocery store equivalent to laundry or dishes - a chore that never ends. I must have moved the entire inventory of carry baskets at least three times this morning.

Another interesting snippet I learned at todays talk by the biologist about the wood lemming:
it has three different genetic types of female:
all producing mostly female offspring, so that there are only 1/5 th male lemmings in the population.
My recently learned nature trivia - from a Nature of Things programme on the Intertidal zones - barnacles have the longest penises of all known species on earth - measuring up to 8 times their body length! It's been an important adaptation - since they themselves are firmly anchored to a rock or some such thing and cannot go wandering to find a mate ... well ... use your imagination!

Neighbours sick again, this time it was her I called the ambulance for at 3.30 am. She forgot to take her heart pill yesterday. Now, daughter has arrived and son in law will stay with him while she goes to the hospital.
And forme its time to get up for work. Cat is going to the cat hotel after work, suitcase is packed.

Good morning, all. The coffee cart is ready for you.

Safe travels, Mrs. A, our thoughts are going with you.

And i was touching barnacles on the beach in Panama. I think I washed my hands after.

Safe travels Mrs. anteater. They everything about your trip workout smoothly without any bumps or excitement.

I'm sorry that your cash has to go to the cat hotel. I feel certain that she will be safe and well cared for, but I don't think she'll be happy. Cats like their home base. Sometimes we can-sit for Seelergirl. Since she lives out of town, we would bring the cat to our place to enjoy his company 24/7. But he didn't enjoy ours. So now, if her family is away for more than a few days, we go out and visit the cat on his turf while checking the house. (Seelergirl's neighbour is back up if there came a time that we couldn't get out.) The cat is lonesome for his family but happier in his home that was us

Sorry to hear that your neighbours are sick. They are a nice couple.

Hey Mrs. A - safe travels tomorrow ... weather forecast in Toronto looks good, and I think that huge storm that hit the UK & parts of Europe on the weekend has moved on - so it should be good (ie uneventful!) flying for you & family. Hoping your mom will be sufficiently well to appreciate your presence, and family are supportive. Stressful time for all of you & I will be thinking of you.

My neighbour is back home and fine. Dropped cat off at the cat hotel. Oh, she was so scared. Some that were there already looked quite relaxed. I know being in her own place is best, but I think she would have been too lonely. Maybe she will make a cat friend at the hotel. She will still have 5 days alone at home with the neighbour looking after her before I come back. Heavy snow forecasted for overnight into tomorrow, I hope it will be all cleared before we need to leave.
My colleagues went above and beyond to try to cover my job- one juggled her day and own caseload to cover my unit for tomorrow, because otherwise, there would have been just one OT in the whole building.
It took me 70 minutes to tell her about all my patients and what needs to be done.

Have a safe trip, Mrs. A.; your kitty will be fine, especially once she's back home. Cats are so territorial, much more than dogs. Lucy can't go to a pets hotel because of her attitude to other dogs, but if she could, I'm sure she'd be chill with a few days being pampered. The late collies across the road used to trot into The Royal Pets Hotel very happily in anticipation of different biscuits, doggie and human friends to meet/re-meet, comfy beds, tons of walks out in the country. My Mom's cat used to go to the same place when they went away, and she didn't seem to mind it too much, especially after the first time.

Coffee time! Beverage cart is ready for your enjoyment. Happy Wednesday.
