I missed you, too . Seems like the last time you were onWC you were talking about the cold temperature inWinnipeg. Has it been a year already?
I think I last hanged out here by late September/early October. It was already cold when comparing to other provinces... Now it is really cold, lol.

Today is my last day of work this year - got vacations from Monday till January 2. On Wednesday I had my last final exam at University - I took five courses, all at night after work. I have never been so busy before, and I need this break. Work is going much better than I imagined, though, and I was able to take some exciting courses on Indigenous politics and even one on the Synoptic Gospels to fulfil my Humanities requirement.
Being busy does help to distract from the short and cold days, though.

Isolated and individualized critters retreat into abstract holes to look at what's really out there ... hibernia of myth?

Thus my autonomous nature ... goes along well with emotional intelligence when balanced off by Archimedes Rule ... there are some that are just sinkers ... without thunk-out processes ... never return ... like that old miner in Shifting Whispering San's --- Jim Reeves, etc.

Some excavation and archaeology expected!

I retreat to near the fireplace with a stack of wood and myths for logging into ... what else ... the abstract! Absolutes never believe in Ide ... IT appears primal ...

Good morning! The coffee is ready, tea and other warm beverages await. Help yourself.

Good morning. Did anyone watch SNL? For some reason I found Eddie Murphy’s appearance, resurrecting his controversial characters, oddly comforting (and Mr. Robinson was still funny - he was my favourite back in the day) - skipping the PC while being fully aware of it...maybe only he could possibly get away with that now - it was nostalgic...okay (oh-tay?) As well as the performance by body positive Lizzo and her amazing dance crew (contrasted with the misogyny back in 1984...which i think was calculated by snl to balance out Murphy or purposely make a point that some things have changed, while some stereotypes remain the same ) - Christmas has been good already.

Merry Christmas to all here. This is my last minute of peace before Boxing Day! Son and his wife are coming home today. We host a Christmas Eve event which includes attending church. And Christmas Day at my sister's place involves all of us making something and bringing it. I have cooking and cleaning to do today. The hard part about this year is that my 16-year-old niece (adopted from China) is in the hospital because of her 4-year eating disorder. She has gone from anorexic to bulimic. It's affecting her heart and blood pressure. There is a great team of professionals working with her but it will not be a quick fix. She is hoping to have a day pass for Christmas and my sister (her mom) still wants us to gather at her place, even if it means that my other sister and I do most of the work (okay by me!)

And Carolla -- I caught a Christmas cold too! First I've had in two years! Grrr.

Glad your niece is in the hospital getting the help she needs. It really is a mental health issue with a bodily expression. May you and your family have a good Christmas and may she know you care.

Thanks all. Something interesting happened yesterday...My niece had a pass to attend a family gettogether (not our side of the family) and when she returned to the hospital she was exceedingly sad to be going back. Once in her room, she discovered a mountain of presents! A local random act of kindness group had supplied gifts, which included I-pad, headphones, gift cards, all probably adding up to $1000! I have mixed feelings about this particular excess and the effect it would have on an already very materialistic girl. My brother-in-law said..."A teddy bear would have been all she needed!" I am amazed at the kindness and generosity though. (Now...if I could only get some of this for our Silent Auction fundraiser for Camp!!!)

Sorry to hear that his child has to be spending time in a hospital. Receiving about $1000 in gifts would be overwhelming. Sometimes it really does seem as if those who have much get more, and those with very little get nothing. That fact, plus emotion-jerking advertising, probably caused this over abundance.

Advertising can screw up the mind???????

What a unique carrier that is ... more corn? Justly it is according to the Merc's! In reality anything can be sold with a good myth behind it ...
