Second week of my colleague on vacation and second day without my rehab assistant- stress level is high, just can’t everything done and woke at 3 am with thought in my mind what else I need to do. Glad that March break will be over next week. And that the first week wasn’t bad.
With 7 degrees and sunshine, tried to walk the stress off yesterday. Still ice on the lake, it was -10 at night. Hoping for my crocusses to pop out soon. Warm enough to let the cat out in the catio for an hour or two, where she has a good look at the birds at the bird feeder right next to it. They must know she is behind bars.

What is with clinics that do not turn on their phones? 2nd clinic where this has been an issue, it sounds like the clinic is closed when they are open. 2. What is with clinics that screen out certain types of calls? Landline was set up so caller ID doesn't show up, they screen that out.
Unrelated I now take off to the hematologist, although slightly related in that the GP I need to speak with is not in this morning and staff there don't seem to understand how I can be at an appointment all afternoon I had to repeat multiple times why I couldn't drop by or phone this afternoon.

Perhaps doctors find patients a real pain to look after for the monis received ... thus they should literally be eliminated?

Tis a world of controversy to say lisa've IT! Can it be whittled to a point?
 
Our 14yr old dog decided he was a puppy yesterday.
He has been really good outside, staying close to the house, and the people.
Yesterday, my husband was in & out of the garage with my brother-in-law - both were working on their cars.

Our dog decided to go on a wander. Ended up on the side of the house next door going up the hill to the next neighbours.

Now we're pondering a dog fence. Silly boy is hard of hearing and almost blind. The road at the end of our driveway is a real danger to him.

Generally I find the doctors are more pleasant than other office staff. I know that at one clinic they cycled through quite a few people. At the rare blood disorder clinic there have been some changes too, some good friendly newcomers have replaced some who were a little less than friendly or in one case clueless.

That has been my experience on this trip through the medical system. That being said, it's only been a couple of office staff who have been a problem. They haven't even been a huge problem though. Just annoying.
 
Will I have time to catch up on everything I've been missing here? Not sure, so I'm just jumping in. Babysitting the 2 kids and 4 dogs went well although I felt my age at times. But we were treated to a little wildlife: many, many deer hanging around. And then the inevitable. Wolves made 3 kills just outside our big huge windows, and we spent the next few days watching the bald eagles move in to eat from the kill. We didn't get to see the wolves...they only ate at night. But we saw where they dragged stuff, and we saw their HUGE pawprints. Glad to be back in civilization.
 
Wow Nancy - that's quite the 'front row seat' you had on the workings of nature!! Was it scary for the kids, dogs, yourselves?
 
Pinga-my sister-in-law uses a virtual fence for her husky. She wears a special collar and get a wee shock if she wanders past a set range. Seems to work for them. They just swap out collars for walks.

Actually, my 9-year-old grandson was quite fascinated. And the big dogs seemed to want to get loose and join the pack of carnivores. My little dog was told to stay close to me...I was scared that an eagle might consider her dessert!
 
So we think that my ex has fallen for a love scam. Several messages on his facebook page from the Phillipina women are asking for money. He is still here in Canada, has no address, no mail box, no phone. Has sent all his belongings to the “ girl friend in the Phillipines. A message from her “ sister” in January asks him for money , because the girlfriend has malaria. A message this week asks for money for her passport. Why would she need a passport if he is planning to go there? Its a sad story. We are trying to find out if he still works, which I can’t imagine, since he has been homless since December. It also doesn’t sound like there isn’t any non- hospital place to go to get help- and since he worked at the hospital, he is not likely to go there for help.
 
Oh dear, Mrs. A. We don't realize how vulnerable men can be, especially if they're a bit prone to thinking with their second brain. In retrospect, I am so blessed that my late husband landed up with a good woman.
 
Even though your ex isn't your responsibility it must be bothersome to hear he isn't handling life well. There seem to be plenty of guys who fall for these 'romance' scams.
 
Sorry to hear that news Mrs. A - it happens more often than we imagine, sadly. Seeing anyone taken advantage of by scammers is crappy, especially when we are powerless to intervene.

He hasn’t been handling life well for a while but this seems to be close to hitting rock bottom.
Not sure if this is that much of a male thing, though. There was a scam on the radio this week of a guy who pretended to be rich but “ just needed some money to bridge” and ripped off several “ girl friends. It was said that in Canada some $22 millions have been scammed of “ loving partners”. ( not sure in which time frame).
 
And so often, "scammers" are actually people desperate to find a safer place to live.

We are so blessed here, in Canada (and England, *waves @Pavlos*) (and the Pacific NW , *waves @Inannawhimsey* )...

I'm down in the dumps again tonight, over my own personal relationships. I've had a trying few weeks. And I'm going to a celebration of life on Saturday, which is bittersweet, and always gets more frequent as you age.
 
Sorry to hear another of your companions on the journey has died Bette. You are so right - gets to be an increasingly common event.

Indeed, there are many seeking desperate exit from their circumstances elsewhere in the world - and then there are those who also prey upon others. Hard to recognize the difference sometimes. Thanks for the reminder.

Hoping you will sleep well this night and relax into the arms of peace.
