It is a bit of a winter wonderland here. The skies are bright & blue, with lovely sun shining. There is a enough snow to make the world look pretty. About 6cm sitting on the deck.
Husband has been snowblowing drivingway (long), side drive (short/steep), and front turnabout, plus the neighbours entrance, getting rid of the snow that the plow put into the entrance.

I am glad it’s Sunday. We had about 12 cm of snow, now its turning toice pellets and for the afternoon heavy rain is forecasted. I just shoveled the driveway before it got too heavy and cleared the drain on the street- its the only one on the whole street so we will have a mess with all the rain and melting snow.

I'm thankful for my husbands mechanical / troubleshooting skills.

Last night, the house kept getting cooler & cooler, though the thermometer was set correctly.
He started the electric stove, and the wood stove to keep heat up.
He did some troubleshooting, then went outside and checked the external.
Turned out the air intake had iced over.
(may have been a function of the dryer vent), but, either way, once he cleared, furnance worked, and house began to warm up.

We've had problems with snow drifts around the intakes/vents but never icing. Interesting.

We used to have lots of problems with our hot water tank intake icing over. Basically every time it went down to -25C and if it stayed down there for more than a few days we would have to do it again. When we got the new one in he did something to the outside stuff too so it hasn't been a problem anymore.

good detective work by Mr. Pinga! You would not want to be without heat with this sudden arrival of winter in southern Ontario! We are in sync now with much of the rest of the country after a slow start to wintery weather. The wind is gusting fiercely here today - glad to be home after several hours drive home from Collingwood.

Giancarloz - so sorry to hear about the death of your mentor - I can tell from your words & photo that you shared a special bond with him. Is there a most memorable learning that you gleaned from him, that you carry forward today?

I spent Fri and Sat x-country skiing with oldtime friends up one of our local mountains.
Good snow-only 45 minutes from home, great conversations and food and blueberry tea. It is especially nice that the 3 of us ski at the same level (skilled recreational). I came down last night as today was our minister's last day with us. As chair of the Board I had a part in the service-the dissolving of covenants, and I had volunteered to cook a turkey as part of the potluck lunch.

Lovely service and plentiful lunch.
Part of me was longing to ski another day but I was so glad I took Friday off work. I will have other ski days and other days with my friends.

Brrr - clear and sunny today - had about 6" of snow overnight, so a bit of car clearing to do before heading off to church. Then I got behind 3 snowplows - grateful for their presence, but damn, wish I had pulled out of my driveway one minute sooner so I would have been ahead of them. As it was, I had a slow meditative drive half way to church, then deeked up a sidestreet when able!

So come close to the fire my friends - it's crackling and the flames are mesmerizing. The snow is swirling around outside. I have a jigsaw puzzle on the table ... a good snowy day activity! There's a big pot of hot water & lots of teas for you to select from - enjoy. I think I smell some cookies just about ready to come out of the oven. There's a big basket of knitting in the corner - if you'd like to occupy yourself while here in the room.

Oh - and this news! Today at "New Church" I met Innukshuk! I was so glad she approached me & we enjoyed a lovely chat. Had no idea she was even in this neighbourhood. I look forward to getting to know her better.

That's cool - meeting up unexpectedly like that.

I just popped in to share some of the Not Cross Buns I made. Eat up while they are still warm from the oven - and give me a holler if you want more. I made lots. Most interesting thing to do on such a yucky day.

I don't remember much about her or her posts but I definitely remember Innukshuk. Say hello to her for me, please.

I am really tired. My back is very sore. My hands (which get dry and split in awful spots) are quite painful. The new boarder has a nice clean space to live in. She is safe from a bully, and has her TV and her dog. I've had some hilarious moments today trying to prevent Lucy, my hound, from biting anyone.

The prospect of making myself dinner feels daunting. However, there's fresh rapini, garlic, a big scallop, three shrimps and some fish waiting to be turned into a braised masterpiece.
