We've stayed for one week in my wife's hometown, between Ottawa and Montreal. Unfortunately, the job offer she had there didn't work out. I have a childhood friend who's living in Winnipeg for six years, she invited us to come here to know the city and we loved it. My wife could get a good job in less than four days, we rented a good apartment within our budget, the city is easy to navigate and pretty. We're really liking it here.

Haha, you haven't experienced January yet.

(welcome to Canada)

I know someone in Winnipeg, and she has lived there for decades...on one hand, it amazes me that she has stayed there, and built her life there...it’s soooo cold in the winter. On the other hand, she loves the people and culture there - the arts and culture seems to be a strong point - and so, finds it worth it to tolerate the weather.

When we arrived, one month ago, it was still warm. Now, even with the unexpectedly soon cold, the weather still isn't thaaat bad. Days are sunny and the weather is dry, which I find better than wet winters. So far so good. It's true that the city's got a good art and culture scene. It's also got a good size, everything is at hand. Public transportation is not so good, but works. I could live here for a while, I think, especially if I can get used to winters - lets see.

I will tell you how they get people to stay in winterpig.

They still fog for mosquitoes! Trucks drive around town spraying stuff that kills mosquitoes. All the kids ride their bikes in the fog following the trucks. The fog kills mosquitoes and robs humans of common sense.

I remember the fogging trucks. It was a big race around to shut the windows and if going from one person's place to another we would borrow washcloths and damping them to try to filter inhaling it.
My memories of that are all from a long time ago, not in my teens or later. Not sure if they fog less now (quite likely), AC was a big help with that aspect.

So, the funeral is tonight our time, Monday their time. It will be a Christian service since Mrs. M's mother converted after her own mother, also Christian, passed away. I've sent a message from Little M and I in an e-card. Mrs. M will translate it and read it to the family. We did the same when her father died in the spring.

I have been working on getting my corporate finances caught up. I've been burning the midnight hours for a few days.

Last night, I was sitting with the tv on for background noise, and youngest son was listening to music. I realized that I could hear water running, and the washer should have been done long before. Sometiems I hear the water softener doign something late at night.
Turned off the tv, and could hear it even more. Opened up the door to the furnace room, and the water softener was spewing water.

Youngestson turned it off, whilst I went to get husband out of bed.
Of course, we were having thanksgiving dinner today.
After about an hour things were good, and back to bed.

Today was a great day for Thanksgiving.
