Wild party???
Full day yesterday. At our church from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm for a fantastic 'Sampler Saturday', then over to the sports' centerr for a special Harvest Time Square Dance.
A cup of coffee, a home-made roll, and a bit of a sit down now before getting ready for church this morning.

That sounds yummy Seeler, samples of various food items. Certainly something I would have attended too. Did a local grocery store provide the samples?

Thank you Mendalla for providing the connection. It explains it much better than I could. I shared a leadership roll in the bread making, attended by about a dozen people. Seelerman joined in the prayer shawl group, and started knitting a small pocket-prayer-patch. One other man attended the mainly female group. This man was a good knitter, compared to Seelerman who once watched Seelergirl and me knitting Nordic sweaters and ask us to teach him - he knit a toque that time.
After lunch we both attended the multi-cultural event and heard two Muslim women, one wearing a colourful head scarf and a long black gown, the other wearing western clothes (slacks). They explained the differences and overlapping of their religion and culture. Women's clothing is more a matter of culture - some Muslim countries actually pass laws about it while others leave it up to the individual.
The music topped it off beautifully. Good to see Luce NDs there.

Yes, Jae, there were some samples of food. Muffins and coffee when we arrived and available throughout the morning. Rolls from the oven with butter and jam, molasses, peanut butter. And many people shared their brown-bag lunches.
No charge - not even a donation basket.

How does having Muslim women talk about their clothing fit into a Christian church's "Sampler Saturday?"

I love the idea of a sampler Saturday. And yes Muslim women have a place there. We need to get to know each other especially in these times where judgement seems to prevail.

Enjoying a calm sunday afternoon. After attending celebrations of life the last 2 sunday afternoon I am enjoying having some discretionary time.

That's what she is suggesting putting in its own thread. The Room is not a suitable place to discuss interfaith relations, which is what the answer to that question leads into.

She was the one who brought up on this thread the sampling Saturday at her Christian church, and on this thread that Muslims had participated in it. She should be willing and able to answer well-meant questions about it on this thread.

No, she shared an experience she had with those of us in the Room as many of us do. Had she intended it to be a discussion, she would have put it elsewhere. It has long been agreed (back to the original room on WC) that the Room is a friendly place and that contentious questions and discussions go elsewhere.

Rejecting your implication that the question was "contentious." I stand by my statement of post #9614.

So, getting geared up to go visit Little M (and for him to visit us, too). Basically, we go to Ottawa for a couple days, then we're going to drop down and see Lake Placid (only 3 hours from Ottawa), then head back to London with him so he can have a few days at home. He'll take Greyhound back.
