I put the 12 and 6 on the clock face first, then the 3 and 9. The rest was easy; but I can see that it might be difficult just to start at the top and go 1, 2, 3 ... and reach 12 before you were half way round.
I read "Still Alice" with my book club about five years ago. I found it very sad and a bit worrisome. For some time I kept watching for her symptoms to start developing in me. So far so good, and now I have my doctor's reassurance today.

Good to hear things went well for you today Seeler.

Thanks all. The ultrasound went well. She first put some gel on my lower abdomen and took some pictures. Then she had me void and took more pictures (to see how well I had voided). Not painful or "discomfortable" at all. Now I'm being referred back to my urologist.

I laughed at Claire. She uses such grown up phrases, and really quite effortlessly.

And good point. I don't know that she doesn't swear outside the home. Not for sure. But she also isn't self-conscious about it, and really, I don't care if she swears. She also really cares about othe people, and she knows blasphemy makes some people upset. He teacher also said that she doesn't swear in the classroom. But at home, in context, she is allowed to swear.

And really, I'd rather she curse properly and in the context of the situation.
I actually find that I'm less offended than many of my evangelical friends over someone using bad language. I'm more concerned in listening to the meaning behind the words that are spoken.

I had an echocardiogram last week (ultrasound of the heart). I've had an abnormality on my ECG for years but the last cardiology exam found nothing wrong so we've kind of been ignoring it. It's been a decade since that exam though, so my doc decided to get it checked out again. Besides this, I am seeing a cardiologist and doing a stress test, both in October.

Hope everything turns out well for you Mendalla.

Yes ultrasounds are fairly easy and non-invasive (except for the transvaginal one-it's still ok just invasive). Here's to getting your waterworks problem under control Jae.

Mendalla-Glad your heart is being re-checked. A stress test is a good idea.

Glad to hear that folks are taking advantage of our universal healthcare and taking care of themselves.

Depends. I've had a few. My first was pretty difficult as I was quite sick and drinking the necessary amount of water and keeping it down was hard. Didn't help wondering what was the cause of my symptoms and being in a room full of happy, pregnant woman many of them who looked at the teenage me with judgmental looks. They were laughing and commenting about how they were looking forward to peeing. Once mine was over throwing up was more on my mind than peeing.
The 2nd I had was much easier.

I would happily do so in some circumstances unless personal safety is an issue (and if personal safety is an issue, the picket should be ended right there). I soured on many of our unions a long time ago for any number of reasons. There's a place and a purpose for them but I find that some of them have becoming self-sustaining, self-serving organizations. When you have unions trying to stop their staff from unionizing (can't find a cite but I remember the story from years ago), my irony meter goes off the scale.

I am in a non-union shop, by the way, and see no reason to change that. We are well treated, well paid, and no worse off than people I know who are in union environments.
(error... I think you meant to post this in the "Picket Line" thread)

Lots of good news today. Seeler, I can see you smiling! Sounds like Jae's medical procedure went well too. Mendalla is lined up for heart tests. Tabitha tidied and reaped rewards!

Just put some treats out for everyone - haskaps, raspberries and saskatoon. Help yourselves.

Was recently reading a book written by a former colleague & aquaintance of mine - on her journey with MS. I chuckled at one point when she commented that her kids thanked her for teaching them to swear creatively :-)

@KayTheCurler , what are haskaps?
In the US they are being marketed as honeyberries. Do well in Northern climates.

Fairly tart, look like a blueberry, I think they taste a bit like them but with a flavour similar to a sour raspberry added. Seeds aren't noticeable.

The robins got to most of our first year's harvest :( We got a taste off of both the varieties though. Will put up netting next year.

I'll gladly take some off of Kay!

Chemgal beat me with her answer- much like what I would have said.

We use netting and when it was time to lift it off to pick the berries several people came to get some. There were eight of us chatting and picking with ice cream pails fastened around our waists. A varied collection of birds sat all around our yard (various types of sparrow, a selection of finches, waxwings, robins etc) . They were on the other bushes and trees, on the power and phone lines, on the fence - I could see their impatience as they stared intently!

When we had enough berries picked we went into the house and watched the birds descend in droves. Within 24 hours there wasn't a haskap berry to be found.

I never would have expected the robins to be an issue! I've only seen them eat worms, they leave our strawberries alone. I thought maybe the magpies would be an issue but the robins actually did some damage to the plants as they would really pull, sometimes taking off a branch.

Such fruits put some people in a huckle ... they don't know what to do with bleu things ... especially when the "c" is silent ... lyon in wait ... in the san ... out there!

KInd 'a like aD libre ... one of those cantos ... strongly hung in space ... like Juda 'n ...

Saw my doc today about a minor thing (very very minor) and my echocardiogram report was in. Sad to say, you're stuck with me for a while yet:cool:. "No underlying coronary artery disease. No underlying heart disease." We'll see what comes out on the stress test in October, but so far, so good on my ticker.
