I bet you are feeling 'hedged in' - I take it that you're not able to go out because of the cold & wind & how difficult it makes it to breathe. Very limiting - and you have such a long period of cold weather where you are. "Cabin fever" is a reality.

And how's crazydad doing? I seem to recall he was unwell before Xmas.

Oh Crazyheart, sorry that you are feeling hedged in.

I know that my Dad is, and his anxiety is up because of it. Had a panic'd call from him today, which shifted my plans a bunch, but, we made it through. The cold combined with his knowledge that I was leaving for 2 weeks increased his stress, stress seems to have triggered his shingles, and the spiral continues. We did some retail shopping and was able to alter the mood, combined with a nice dinner out. I bet that you aren't like that; however, I get how the weather impacts our moods and concerns.

@crazyheart I'm not quite running-I forgot my inhaler today and had to ski very slow and catch my breath at the top of uphills-but yes it does feel great to get out. Can you get to a mall or somewhere so you can walk? My mom walked an hour at the large grocery store near her today-no nearby malls available.

I can get groceries etc. if I do it slowly but I use the cart to lean on. The store is big. I was making enquiries about oxygen but the doctot thought my oxygen levels were not low enough. Can this be true?
@Tabitha

re Oxygen levels - in Ontario there standards that must be met before the government will pay for home oxygen. A respiratory therapist (or sometimes an OT) measures O2 levels during various levels of activity, and if they drop, it is important to know how low and how long it takes to rebound to 'acceptable' levels. If people do not meet criteria - then they can arrange home 02 services, but must pay out of pocket & it can be quite expensive. If you're curious - perhaps your doc could refer you for a specific assessment.

@crazyheart , I don't know what it is about this winter, but I've been feeling breathless quite often when out for a short period of time (ie getting to the vehicle) at temperatures where I would normally be ok. I don't know if it's the humidity or something in the air. When I'm in, my asthma's been quite good.

I do find it can take a while to recover. Plan to sit and catch your breath when you can.

Kitchens and bathrooms can be so expensive to redo . . . both of mine need some work . . . perhaps a little bit each year.

It is a sunny, brisk morning here. I have had breaky, but am still in my jammies. Need to get into gear and get down and put the last few Christmas items in boxes so hubby can pack them up under the stairs for me.

So many things to think about - eye appointment tomorrow (another 8-10 hour just driving depending on the weather), Nominating Committee work, other church projects, catch-up phone calls to make with family and friends, cards to make and post, orders to make.

How is everyone this weekend?

Doing well here thanks. We had a good team meeting yesterday. Good discussion - prayer - and lunch. Today I'm giving a short presentation in church on my team's Snowman Soup outreach. Afterwards - I get to keep working on a paper due in school this Wednesday.

@crazyheart personal question Do you smoke? Smoking and oxygen are a hard combination. If you do reducing (and eventually quitting) may help breathing if not just ignore this post.. And feel free not to answer publicly

Jae, it's wonderful when church meetings and plans are life giving. Sounds like things are going well for you. That's great.

I haven't heard any news about my great aunt for a few days. Last I heard they were easing back on her pain meds and she was getting a bit more lucid which is encouraging. My mom thinks they are trying to balance her meds properly before doing anything else. She is still in the critical care unit.

Today, I am thinking of my cousin. It should have been her 35th birthday, but she passed away three years ago from cancer.

no I am proud that I quit smoking 4 years ago, hardest thing I ever did.

That's great crazyheart. What method did you use to quit? I smoked for about two years back in the late eighties - then quit afterwards by just very-gradually reducing the number of cigarettes I allowed myself each day.

Oh gosh Greywolf - three years! I do remember you telling us about her illness and death. Are you doing anything special today to honour her memory? Something she would love perhaps?

Hoping that you had a peaceful day, grey wolf

Beloved, when were/are you driving for your appointment. Hope your travels are safe and the outcome is good.

Happy birthday to @Tabitha as well. May it be a good day for you.

I am enjoying my day. At the last minute I booked off work. I have planted some indoor bulbs (a first for me) and have been working on cutting out an owl quilt. Eldest called me this morning-early-he was one time zone away, youngest wished me happy birthday and I emailed middle-but no response. Had a gift to open from each sister (I have 2) and my parents. Yes quite a lovely day.

Happy Tabitha Day! Sounds like a great idea to book off work & do some things you enjoy. Owl quilt sounds very interesting! Can you post a pic when done? Would love to see it.
