In truth, it isn't much different. I have been fairly risk averse, and so, we get groceries infrequently and only really see my son & his family, and my s-i-l and b-i-l. Very small circle for us, though their circles are bigger just due to the size of their family, so we are cautious even when together.

I agree, there are less expectations.

My circle is very small. Don't see my daughter often. She works retail at present, teaches yoga classes, is very social and her best friend, who she works with and is "in her circle" has four kids in the school system. She'll also be going to her partner's mother's in another town for the holidays, as she has in the past, so I will not be with family. I work in a grocery store, so also high risk of contagion. I attempt to only shop on the day or three that I work, not really an inconvenience; I have one regular drugstore for any other needs, the LCBO/Beer store as needed, appropriately masked. Any other minor needs, I accomplish on-line. Any Sunday gatherings at the church are very vigilant re distancing and masking protocols and we are whisked out of there, discouraged from much interaction beyond short convos in the parking lot, in winter in Central Ontario. I do not dare see my sorta ex old guy. The thought of spreading the virus through the major Simcoe Muskoka dialysis clinic is something of a nightmare of mine.

I think Christmas is going to be lonely. My real bubble exception is a woman my age, lives alone with her dog across the street. I have gone to a restaurant with her, and we've driven in the car together, although masked and with some windows open. I've agreed we'll go for a drive on Christmas Eve to look at the local Christmas light displays.

I think Christmas is going to be the hardest isolation aspect of this. Last Christmas wasn't great as I was still recovering from the biopsy, wasn't able to play with the kids as I typically would, etc. I hope to squeeze a walk in with them at least. That's difficult thought due to ages and the bathroom aspect.

Good Morning! As the American Thanksgiving holiday unfolds, and kicks the holiday season into high gear, let us acknowledge that for this year alot of stuff will be different for many families. Before the height of the fooferaw begins, let us gather round the cart for got beverages.

That's the spirit ... gather all that was lost out there! Some folks fear what's out there ... the fear of knowledge and the authorities will be pee' doff if you learn something that they weren't consciously cognizant of ...

Let’s hope that Americans have a safe thanksgiving

one year had an American friend ask me why our thanksgiving is in October. I replied that is harvest season. Why is yours in november. No idea

Ideas are related to intellect and knowledge ... evil according to God's ...

I'm working on our church's December newsletter, so I 've been asking people about their Christmas plans. Most people give me upbeat answers. So, I feel a little guilty about my glum mood when I think of Christmas....grandkids on other side of a closed border, typical gatherings that would include more than 10 people, and a household of just two of us with one being a lot like "A Man Called Ove". I'm still trying to figure out how to celebrate, really celebrate, the season.

Could have said because we decided not to do it in May anymore.

One of the people Chemguy sent home has tested positive for COVID. He'll be getting tested now although I don't think he's considered a 'close contact' according AHS.

My son's workplace has sent at least four people home for not being well. They were told to get tested . There may be more as my son doesn't check in much when he is at his workplace (a mine).

I was blessed to do a job this afternoon. To "run the slides" (sync the Powerpoint slides with the service; sometimes a bit difficult with the new Livestreaming, but we did well, according to our Tech Team Leader). My Rev's Mom was 103 years old when she died a month or so ago, and so today, we livestreamed a memorial service for her, with just the closest family in live attendance, and speaking/performing, and the rest of the service pre-recorded video and audio clips including 3 sets of slide shows with music. It went REALLY well and it was SUCH a pleasure to do a final service for a woman, who I had only known for a decade, who had such a profound influence on so many people in her life, via her person; her engaged, loving, laughing inclusive personality; her influence as a mother, a grandmother, a minister's spouse, a drama teacher; her roles in the United Church as supporter, worker and personality. What an amazing role model of the old adage, "people will forget what you've said or done, but they won't forget how you made them feel". Apparently, Joy, Grandma Joy, Momma, Mom, Mrs. E., The Big Easy, was pretty memorable.

Good morning, all! For those of you venturing forth to go shopping, stay safe. The Cart will remain open all day today, this afternoon featuring a selection of decaf and herbal teas, to soothe those frazzled nerves of returning shoppers.

I also cannot watch cheesy Christmas movies on Netflix with the volume on right now. I told Chemguy last night when I claimed the section I would be watching goodies like the Christmas Prince until I fell asleep. :p He was wondering where he was going to be sent to for sleeping. He gets the bedroom though, as if I restrict his entire house movement he has the ensuite as well.
For now he is not, he is set up in his 'office' that was set up in the Spring with a video conference call.

I do have Chocolate Pumpkin Chai until movie time.

Our family was tested today. My youngest son had been away at an exercise with a number of people. One of them tested positive for COVID. Given his potential exposure, and our just being together, we all went to be tested today. I am thinking it will be negative; however, better to be careful for everyone.

Sounds like a good plan. Crossing fingers for you all (not sure I have that many fingers that can be crossed, though).
