Merry Christmas all! Sorry to hear about the flu, Tabitha. I've experienced that in the past...no fun! We had a great get together here last night...15 of us. Lots of food, talking, laughing and some card playing. Our house is not a pretty house...very outdated and not set up for easy entertaining. But whenever we have a gang, all seem to enjoy themselves. I'm grateful.

Flu was over amazingly early. Had some chills yesterday and some GI upsets but overall did well. Actually popped by friends in the afternoon and stayed for hours. In turn they are coming over today. So I'm glad to be well. And enjoying Christmas with my oldest and youngest and 2 cats.

Who needs a pretty house. Better a house full of laughter. Well done, Nancy.

Tabitha, so glad you kicked that one down. Do you normally get flu shots. I have heard that if you do you built up a better fighting for it.

Glad to hear you're feeling better tabitha - GI upset and flu - nasty combo! My son came down with flu on the 24th, so headed to bed right after opening gifts on Xmas day & missed the rest of the celebrations & chaos when the kids arrived. Miserable sweats & chills & aches, bit of a cough. Slowly resolving. He's decided next year the flu shot will be on his 'to do' list :-) He's definitely a 'live and learn' guy.

Had a nice quiet boxing day here - eating leftovers, chatting with fam, did a jigsaw puzzle, finished a knitting project. Today a big walk & a little local shopping after putting away all the wrapping stuff - nice to have that room back in order again :-)

I'll stoke up the wonderheart a bit to welcome everyone back after the holidays ... and put some tea on. I've got a jigsaw puzzle set up in the corner - it's one of those "family" ones with pieces in a variety of sizes. Sit a bit ...

I think a lot of people get sick when they get a chance to stop for a break. Then their immune system decides to take a break, too. I've been fighting something for a couple of weeks with ColdFx. Getting afraid that when I stop taking it, I'll come down with a nasty head cold...and I haven't had time for my flu shot yet. Tried to get one at work a few weeks ago, but it was a busy week, there was a long line, etc...

My living room looks nice and cosy and festive with a few decorations, my little tree with white lights. My kids both came over yesterday, and besides helping with dinner and table-laying, etc., also each did a little housework job for me, so it's reasonably clean and tidy as well. There's a little mulled cider on the stove, my turkey stock is simmering, I made a turkey casserole for supper for myself, and I made both tarts and tourtiere filling this afternoon, so there are lingering good food odours with lots of overtones of cloves and allspice, cinnamon and sage. "Tonic" is playing jazz Christmas favourites, and all feels pretty well in my world.

*Here's a tray of mincemeat tarts and some nice chai tea to go with them, for those who enjoy indulging in English Christmas treats*

Ooooh, BetteTheRed....I want to live with you! Or at least visit over the holidays. Sounds like a feast for the senses.

Greetings all!

Hope everyone's Christmases held some merry and some bright.

Ours was merry and bright and quiet. Just hubby, daughter, my sis, and me. But we enjoyed it. Lots of turkey and trimmings (and leftovers for 4 days). Watched some Christmas movies, played some cards, and some board games. And started the puzzle yesterday. Sis went home and daughter is staying tonight and then going to work tomorrow and to her place after work. They will come back on new years eve for round 2.

Hubby was the only one feeling a bit under the weather over Christmas . . . cold like symptons - although I think he actuallly has a sinus infection. Despite my various health issues I must have a strong immune system as I hardly ever get sick . . . now I suppose I'll come down with something LOL cause I said that!

Today is a lazy day - went to church - a total of 28 people on the 28th of December. Nice service. Working on puzzle today. Hubby and daughter cleaned up, did some laundry, and vacummed while I was at church - nice to come home to a clean home.

2015 is soon approaching - thinking about things I would like to accomplish in the new year.

Sounds like the same thing I've got and, yes, it feels like a sinus infection moreso than a straight up cold (alas, I am something of an expert on sinus infections). Mine has been in my throat, too (lost my voice for 3 days while on the trip) but that could be irritation from the post-nasal drip.

Hanging out at dad's today as he reverts to bell. He knew their satellite system and never transitioned well to rogers.

Getting internet back in for security camera and wireless for family caregivers.

Also had a new phone jack put in for a large button phone he ordered. Thought this part would be simple but figuring out the phone line has been difficult.

Plus, took the opportunity to clean out a bunch of old shirts and clothing.

He will sleep well tonight.

It is good you can take the time today to be there for him and to do all things for and with him, Pinga.

Spent morning organizing and tidying around here, did some church banking, took daughter to work (who will be going to her own place after work), had lunch and seriously thinking about finding a comfy chair, blanket, book, and cup of hot tea for a bit this afternoon.

Ready for a nap - but gotta go work on a reflection paper. Also visiting someone in the hospital today (the mother of my wife's friend).

Got a quilt top finished. Much more intricate than my usual ones. Every other block had 40 pieces in it. Picked up a friend and we went shopping for backing. Got it at the first store but we went to the next store as well. Had to show off the top.
I had attended a weekend mystery quilt class were we started this quilt. It's tricky choosing fabric without knowing the final outcome. I'm very pleased with the top-even though I can see a few places where I could be a little more precise.

It seems that we dodged a bullet. My husband's sister, had dinner with her husband's family last Saturday. It is a large family full of grown young men, their spouses, and children, and one daughter! (The family line is almost all males).
We had dinner with my husband's family on Sunday, so ..the same sister-in-law, her husband, and all their children.
On Monday, the first group came down with a 12hr bug, and they thought it might be food poisoning
On Tuesday, more came down
On Wed, Thursday, Friday, Saturday......each day more came down with this flu, including the littlest one.

Only 3 seemed spare from my sister-in-law's family . None of us got it.

Oh gosh pinga that does seem like a close call! ... it is flu season ... HAND WASHING EVERYONE!!! They were saying on the news tonight we're reaching peak volumes in Ontario at the moment - or so they think. Also noted 12.000/year are admitted to hospital with flu - that's a LOT!

Twelve per year in the entire province of Ontario? That doesn't seem like that many.
