I don't think that has ever happened to one of my places. I recall it at my parents, almost always for birthday candles and little else.

Christmas is one week away . . . how is everyone doing? Enjoying the pre-Christmas season? Rushing around like crazy? Enjoying this time? Feeling overwhelmed?

I'm whitling away at the last few items on my "to do" list . . . got my fridge cleaned today.

I have a Leadership Board meeting tonight . . . hopefully it won't go on for too long.

I'm really having a rough time. I don't have the type of stress I would normally have when things haven't been done, partially because I've gotten the most important out of the way, and some things I know will be done eventually and people will be understanding that they are 'late'.
The stress I feel more is just that I want to be able to enjoy this time, and it's really hard.

I'm hoping things will get better when we travel. Maybe just being in the same place when I was feeling the pressure to get things done is still weighing on me.

I'm exhausted. Insomnia is one thing. Not sleeping even though you would be able to but you have to keep going to the bathroom is a totally different type. I think last night was at least due to swelling going down.

I think I'm going to try to go for a walk, or something just to get some sun. I got some one day when we were waiting for the ice coating on Chemguy's truck to melt, and it actually felt slightly warm with the sun beating on my black pants. The weather has been funny, some days at -5C it has felt quite cold. There was a breeze, but it wasn't really windy, must have been the humidity level or something. It actually felt warmer one day when the temperature dropped a bit.

Well - I've almost done no shopping at all. My wife did the bulk of it (her choice). I did buy the SS gift and send it off. I still want to buy gifts for my mom - my wife - my youngest son - and my sons' half-brother. Also want to get stuff for stockings - and also a gift for my pastor and his wife.

Beyond that - this Christmas break for me will largely be about doing schoolwork - which includes a major project for my Gospel - Church & Culture course...

Sounds like you have quite the shopping list there Pr. Jae - hope you get some shopping time in on the weekend.

@ ChemGal ... you had SUN!! How fantastic is that!! We've had a very gray week here - and I realize how much I miss the sunshine! This morning it came out briefly - but didn't last long o_O Hopefully the weekend forecast will be better. Taking my vitamin D in pill form these days!!

Looking forward to time with friends and family on the weekend and through next week. Imagine - a week from now we'll all be relaxing in our post-Xmas-dinner stupor :coffee:

Now back to doing some wrapping ...

Good morning folks.

Lots going on from retirement parties to ugly sweater day.

Working too much, dealing with experts at a vendor who are truly operational level and no clue. No wonder places like Sony get hacked.

On a side note, I have on occasion been asked to speak to potential investors and customers of the tool that i work with. It can be fun. Well, a company that links experts recently asked me to be in their network. It pays extremely well if called and my first call is next week. Ethically I cannot accept money while still employed, so the united way will get a nice extra christmas gift.

...in which a group of us are going out into Islington Village to give out gifts of hot chocolate mix to people in the neighborhood.

Went out for bbq with my family today.
First christmas is sunday, and in fact, is the biggest christmas for our family this year. It is at my brother-in-laws and though it will be full of wonderful great-nephews, it is the first year without my mother-in-law, and that will surely colour the day, both in memories of a wonderful woman and melancholy.

It was a lovely potluck today at work, and lots of stresses in meetings, and a great catchup with an old friend for coffee in the afternoon.

Heinz - Hunts - or Aylmers?

*sigh* In our tank with our newest fish, Chemguy spotted 2 new babies. They are going a good job at hiding. The plan was to move all the fish to the big tank before we leave. No baby can hide well enough in our large tank for long. I think they may be supplementing the autofeeder when we're gone.

Well, I had a problem resolve itself. A contractor that we had started to look for a replacement for, announced that they were leaving. It's all good, though is about a month earlier than desired. We shall see how it plays out.

What are on people's plans for today? Do you need a nice beverage to get yourself moving?

They are the timesuck to end all timesucks. However, they have their uses. It was only when my godfather didn't play his Words with Friends move for more than 24 hours that I realized something was up, called, left messages, etc., to discover he'd landed in hospital. He's out now, just fine, but very old.

Thanks for the coffee, pinga. I'm going to need to get moving rather quickly if I'm going to have 4 dozen mince tarts made before I leave to go run errands about 11.
