Ooo - sorry to hear about your family events ChemGal. Have faith that mom's neighbours will help. I think if there was any overt concerning evidence of fractures it would have been dealt with - so if anything shows up it's probably those nasty smaller, sneaky splits that sometimes occur. In the meantime, fingers crossed & sending healing vibes to MomChemGal & family.

Hey Kimmio - 'this too shall pass' - not too soon, but you'll be back outside - time to pull on that 'make the best of it' sweater. Bake some cookies, binge watch, have some naps ... spring is just around the corner for you out there - unlike here in Ontario!!

Ribs can be hard to tell without an xray. She is bruised from the seatbelt, plus it ruined her coat (friction burn).
 
When we totalled our Element I discovered that I had a Love/Hate relationship with a seat belt. I loved that it kept me in my seat and basically safe. I hated the huge bruise that covered most of one boob. It remained (in a range of colours) for at least two months. Hubby got much amusement out of telling folks about it and suggesting that I show them!
 
I got a wonderful fruitcake recipe today, read instructions out loud for best effect (I could not finish reading, had laughter tears in my eyes)

Ingredients: 1cup water. 1 tsp baking powder
1 cup butter. 1 tsp salt
4 large eggs. 1 cup brown sugar
2 cups dried fruit. Lemon juice
1 cup nuts. 1 l whiskey


Preparation:

- Sample the whiskey to check for quality
- Take a large bowl
- Check the whiskey again to be sure it is of highest quality
- Pour one level cup and drink
- Repeat
- Turn on the electric mixer; beat one cup butter in a large, fluffy bowl
- Add one teaspoon sugar and beat again
-Make sure the whiskey is still ok. Cry another tub.
- Turn off mixer.
- Break two legs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.
- Mix on the turner.
-If the dried fruit gets stuck in the beaterers, pry it loose with a drewscriver.
- Sample the whiskey and check for tonsisticity.
- Next, sift 2 cups of salt. Or something. Who cares?
- Check the whiskey.
-Now sift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
- Add one table. Spoon. Or sugar or something, whatever you can find.
-Grease the oven.
- Turn the cake tin to 350 degrees.
-Don’t forget to beat of the turner.
- Throw the bowl out of the window.
- Check the whiskey again.
-Go to bed.
- Who the hell likes fruitcake anyway?

yup - rib bruising or cracks are miserable for sure & take a long time to heal. Unless it's displaced & puncturing organs, there's not much to be done about a fractured rib unfortunately. Hopefully nothing too serious will emerge for her, but I do understand your worry.

I was more worried about head injuries considering the number she has had and not seen anyone about. Plus just the possibility of her hurting herself more doing things at home. I've dropped things and stuff like that and I'm much more open to asking for help.
I think too if there was a broken rib (no call though so that appears fine) she would probably need more rest than what she will likely do.

The world has enough fruitcakes ... if you can see. Don;t be caught up in their shadow or you'll be blinded too. However we're told to blend in, be part ... so it'll appear that you're insane too. Stoic divines stand out a differences in the coup ... and fear causes pecking orders ... don't ask just do it! Thus profligate behaviours ... to excess when we're told to avoid medium thinking ... psyche media?

Can word on a carrier tell you a truth regardless of how it is hidden there? Such is the reciprocal life ... flashbacks?

Fruitcakes with excess essence will trump all deny involvement in aggression, or mistakes in defensive operations ... why we have little guise (small folks)! These may be lettermen ... with lyrics! Fruitcakes of darker nature that only the thin domains see ... trances?

Reality is an odd experience, you must admit tuit!
 
As gentle flurries outside my window are whipped into violent squalls by gusts and blusters of wind, I find myself grateful that my plan for the day involved working from home. Coffee and tea are on hand.

It is 3 degrees out there and our snow is melting. It's like spring. We got a ton of snow over the last couple of days. I was thankful to see that snow was off the trees and we had not had any snow bombs. That's when the snow on the boughs above land on the roof. Last year it sounded like several adult bodies landed. One caused my husband to go up and check.

The coffee is hitting the spot.
 
My dog is at the vet's right now having a worrisome lump removed. I can call around 1:30 to check on her. I had to skip feeding her this morning...Boy, was that tough, with her following me around the house and using her ScoobyDoo voice to convince me of her need for breakfast! She is an old mutt (like me), and here's hoping she is okay.
 
We are getting 15 cm snow today and 100 km winds tomorrow, but NFL is supposed to get 60 cm- or maybe that’s just a Maritime exaggeration.
 
There are squall warnings out for this area. Possibility of accumulations of 15-25 cm. I was just out putting stuff in my car and the temperature has noticeably dropped since lunch time and the wind is picking up. January appears to finally be getting underway in Southwestern Ontario.
