We still have a Christmas celebration to do on the 12th. Will probably remove some of the fragile stuff within the reach of the little one.

We have an artificial one up. I assume it's still up. I'm not home. It will come down in the new week as the house gets put back together.

Was Christmas that destructive as an unknown in your domain of expertise on construction? The great carpenter might be disturbed at the ante ... causing Eris 'n effects across the ethers ... lost thoughts ... trains and strings can go there ... for later retrieval ... the great unknown decides ... when some mine is set tuit ... some people believe they know the eternal ... when it is a virtue to be cognizant that more is coming ... extended wisdom in a stretch.

You sometimes see it hidden in the leagues of a vertiguous myth ... later a tree and then the augured and bored ... no interest as a narst ... root of narcism!

Back to our new normal. Little M is on a train to Ottawa (well, to Toronto where he then meets the one to Ottawa) and we're back to an empty nest.

So they got to Nepean and then the train got held up by a police investigation ahead of them. They let people get off, though, and since they were inside the Ottawa region, he's just taking OC Transpo the rest of the way.

Ephinay and in the Mexican tradition the magi came. My youngest received a bed pillow with a built in speaker, some of my favourite tea arrived for me, and my eldest got an artifical tree for next year-about 4 feet-the size he wanted.

I like that idea, Tabitha. How fun.

Today, I was signed up for the coffee & conversation snacks.
I signed up Jan 6th thinking that I may have stuff to get out of my cupboards & fridge, and I wasn't disappointed.

Family had come and bought more snacks & appetizers, so I was overflowing, plus I didn't want all that stuff lying around for us to eat, so, here is what I took from my cupboards / Fridge.

A package of cheese -- I had bought a bunch when on sale, that was good until late January, and I have lots left
Five boxes of crackers that were Christmas themed and/or open boxes. Still have a few left
A thing of hummous that needed to be eaten up this next week. Some tortilla chips & salsa
Two jars of pickles -- I don't need them, and have a 1/2 of a couple of jars in the fridge now.
Few oranges sliced, bunch of apples, -- for those who are making fruit choices due to allergies or other
A bunch of fruit/nut bars that our family didn't seem to eat. Get them out of my cupboard!
Mincemeat tarts (use up that jar of mincemeat)
Banana bread -- have more bananas in the freezer to make more loaves
Cherry Tomato/mozzarella/basil appetizers -- so yummy, and good to use up.
Bits & bites that I had made and was thankful to see finally almost all gone.

Plus there were cookies from another woman who had brought them.

It was almost all gone, and what wasn't was packaged up to be able to get out next time.

So, I am thrilled as now I can see in my fridge better.
Dumped some leftovers that had been there too long.
Found the thing that smelled in the fridge drawer -- hotdogs that we rarely eat and had been shoved to back of fridge
Glad to see my fridge again!

This church loves to socialize over snacks, plus well, I have found that it is good to have food that can fill a hungry belly. You never know who will be present, or who is hungry.
It's a good church.

It's a good church.

Most churches do such socialization. There was always good grub at my Baptist church in Toronto. Lots of good Korean foods at my church in Suwon.

Opened my e-mail today to discover sad news. One of my favorite old teachers, in high school (he was the coach for the Math Competitions - Euclid and Descartes - that I was always in), then he taught at the College as a post-retirement gig. Gave me some cool art by a local artist/mutual friend of ours when he moved into easier housing a few years ago. His wife of 63 years will miss him so much. He had a great life, but it's never really long enough for a nice guy/old friend/mentor/teacher to so many.

We do, and at 87, unlike some of my other recent losses, it can hardly be considered 'untimely', although it was sudden.

We had 'snacks' at my Tuesday night group last night, which is fairly rare (we generally just have tea), in honour of 80th, 89th (and 35th - yay!!) birthdays...

I hear you. When my mom died at the age of 93, my daughter observed that it was very sad to lose her grandmother but not a tragedy . . .

My condolences Bette.
I am curious to hear about the coaching aspect. I participated in the math competitions, the only involvement I remember was teachers getting me to write them/setting up an area as I would have been in non-math classes during those times.

Oh, we had a "Math Club". Met after school, used to practice previous year's exams, take them up, etc. Jack had a feeling for where you were weak, and would suggest problems to bolster your weak spots. I remember him really loving "a-ha" moments...

My school, too. I never did well at it so didn't stick around long. Little M definitely got his mother's "math genes", though he didn't get involved in the competitions much either for other reasons.
