In our house, yes, that would have been considered bad luck.

Pinga consider Lenard Cohen's commentary of the green cheese on the roof that night ... when he said: "but you don't like muse IHC do yah"! A proper word was being fished out of the shadows ... just for the churning incident?

I don't remember it being bad luck, I just think we had one spot where it would go so my mom didn't put up two. I've put up the new one (just one printed sheet) behind the old one at my desk at work - it's been a long time since I had a fancy wall calendar. I remember getting several at a time in our house, in the past. My step dad was a teacher... He re-gifted a lot of calendars. Lol!

Strange. Heaven knows my mother had her share of superstitions, about ladders, cats, salt, umbrellas open in house, shoes on a table, etc., but I've never heard this one. And I always pin next year's calendar behind this year's when I get it, or I'd never find it again.

Sort of like NDs of Luce Time? Could give some δ/δt's or redacted to de Taes ... a tease coming across from Shadowy places?

Then one really looses trax ...

Actually, the thing with me is that I just never buy calendars until after the new year. Because I've found that after January 1, the price drops - often by 50% or more.

Another procrastinator ... that won't do it in time ... thus the tail end sects education ... you get it hermeneutically or in the behind ... like a clear pane!

My current crop of calendars: the City one, which tells me what week my garbage and yard waste are, a UCCan one ($5), a free one from my SIL's vet in Dorval...not much to save even 50% off on...

It may not help in time Luce. It helps in the bank account. As a member of the working poor, and as a student in Canada's most-expensive seminary, I need to be frugal.

Is not everything tempting fate ... as some fate awaits us regardless ... or, is without regard just blind? Thus de "c" and thus illumination of some dark domains as ID moves about, ethereally ... sometimes people call this vacuously ... and it is sucked up by thirsty I'z ... and thus it goes abstract again!

I was given two calendars this year as Christmas gifts. One has art quilts pictured on it, the other has photos of my grandson taken last year. I haven't bought a calendar for many years - local stores give them away!

Plumbers have been busy since 7am at our house, redoing outside lines, inside lines, and well, just overall busy.
The hose running from our neighbours froze this morning as the temperature dropped. Water quit about 8:30am.
The drain is currently being redone so no flushing or releasing wastes
Will be glad to have all our own water again. Thankful that we had the neighbours water to use.

Hoping that the flooring guy comes today to measure and that insurance gets back to us so that we can then get into the business of restoring.

Does anyone other than me lose their cell phone in their house? I totally ignored it over Christmas...and the battery went dead and now it is nowhere to be found. I remember where it was when I thought, "i should pick that up and charge it"....and i picked it up, but, do not remember what happened with it after that a day or two ago. sigh. I know it is a first world problem.

ps. though it may not seem it, this misplacing of the phone is related to the previous post. My office has been taken over by boxes and two other computers, nothing in its place. I normally charged my cell phone in the evening in the basement, and the basement is no longer livable. so...chargers in varous locations, routines disrupted, equipment moved... not an excuse, just recognizing it all flows.

It is also in part why I would like to keep my Dad in his home for as long s possible. Given his lack of vision / hearing and age, I sense moving to a retirement home would result in a lot of confusion and frustration for him as his routines would be disrupted.

I buy one calendar - the one published by the UCC. We get several more given to us by various businesses. The one right beside my computer is from the pharmacy. I think we've used their's in the same spot for three years now.

Pinga - my sympathy on the household upheaval. We only just got the flooring guy out of our house a few days before Christmas. Ten days of total chaos and confusion with bits of furniture, piles of books, inability to access cupboards etc. etc. Yep - cell phones and chargers were misplaced several times, library books weren't found until the 24th. It is great now it is finished! Bonus - ALL our kids gave their stamp of approval for the improvement.

Hang tough - it will get better  I spent some time whistling while I waited!

Pinga, I lose my phone so often I have it on speed dial on my land line. However, that doesn't, of course, help if it's dead. One of the most deadly phrases I ever say to myself is "well, that's a strange place for that, but I'll remember". Before Christmas, I was lusting for a ThingCharger or three; have you seen them?

Thank goodness this Room is orderly and tranquil, even when our lives around it are not. I've had a very emotionally difficult Christmas this year, and I know I'm not the only one who has struggled, so in a corner, I offer a special candle for those who need a virtual hug, a prayer for healing, a seed of hope.

I am sorry that it has been a rough Christmas for you, BetteTheRed.

Let me fluff up the pillows on the comfy chair and on the couch for you.
Tea, some very fine peppermint tea, is ready for you, and others are on the side should you prefer something else.
There are both good for you, and also not so good for you snacks on the sideboard, and a few just within arm's reach should you want some. (the mixed nuts are looking particularly appealing to me).

Sit down, listen to the music wafting through the room, if you feel like it, there is a jigsaw setup over by the fireplace, and I hear a scrabble game going on over in the corner. (Think that @Seeler was saying something about too many vowels!)

Take care of yourself by just letting yourself be for a bit.

Ahhhh ... time to exhale after the busyness of the holiday season. Thanks for all who make this room such a comforting safe place to just be.

Speaking of scrabble - I was at a funeral before Xmas; a wonderful greatgrandma who loved to play games of all types - and especially scrabble. At the funeral this was of course talked about. Her grand-daughter decided to 'retire' Nanna's scrabble board - and gave everyone present a letter tile as a keepsake :-) A nice tribute. She also suggested, that because Nanna loved nature as well, that if we wished, it might be nice to bury the letter tile in the garden ... so I did that with ours yesterday - at the foot of the angel statue that memorializes my own mom. Made me smile to have a moment out there with two great spirits.

What a great idea, @Carolla .

Minor note: the lost phone is found and charging. The water is restored, and the new drain pipes are done. House is though stage 1 of multiple stages.
I have taken the Christmas decorations down and await the boxes to repack them away. House will not look normal though for a while.
