I have had a real mixed bag of dentists. Family dentist as a kid was good in retrospect, I guess. I was never a fan of going to the dentist period.

I had a really good one for a while in Hamilton. Office was near my apartment so I could walk to appointments. He was an Iranian army officer who fled after the fall of the Shah and retrained as a dentist in Canada. His wife ran the office.

First dentist here was good but he stepped back eventually and the one I mentioned who seemed to be fishing for business took over. One of his hygenists had started out in respiratory therapy but changed track while still in college. We got on well since she was familiar with my workplace from that background.

I'm old enough that i remember when dental appointments became the thing - when my Dad got dental insurance when we moved to Galt.

The dentist they picked was the son of my dad's admin. He had been a ? Champion? skier. Had an accident on the way home from an event at a location that had previously had another accident. Wooden guardrails were in but not wired. Came through the door and took off both legs. Why is this relevant? As a kid i remember being in the chair and hearing him click as he walked towards the room

I think his name was dough Leigh or Lee.
His brother, also a competitive skier was charged with the Victoria park sexual assaults in the 70s.

I really liked the dentist we had here at first. When I met him though, I knew he would be retiring soon. He was probably my age, and seemed to still enjoy his work. He was very kind and competent. I loved the hygienist there. He sold the practice to a younger woman and worked with her part-time for awhile. Apparently egos got in the way. He left and the fabulous hygienist did as well. I didn't like the be hygienist at first. She seemed new and somewhat condescending. She's adapted and is now okay. Not spectacular. I can live with that.

Today is treatment day. I go in for 9. Our welcome back BBQ put on by the park is at 4 to 6. We'll probably drive over to the site. I should be able to enjoy a leisurely burger.

Wanted to add to the mug stories ( a bit late, had to resize the pic). My workplace had a contest last month from the health and safety department. It was a photo contest and one had to pick 5 out of 10 topics to make a picture and submit it. One was the above. ( I got this nice app that can put headings into pictures).
Another one was a pic of “ something healthy I do at work” and “ nature at work” and a day in my shoes”.
They haven’t announced who won the $50 coffee card, yet. ( it was a draw, not a judging of the pics).

So I had my Benadryl nap this afternoon. We went to the BBQ for the park. We drove over. It was a nice time. We got to know our new neighbours. Turns out, one worked in essentially the same field as I did, so we hit it off. We also have a Whitehorse friend in common. He took a photo of me and sent it to her by Messenger, so I took a photo of the couple and sent it to her. She agreed, we have good neighbours. When we got home, we met the neighbours across the road. They also seem nice. We're very thankful.

Over the years, we've had good neighbours mostly. We had heavy pot smokers beside us the last two years. We won't miss that.

Can red letter Dais be amusing as if alien or strange? Given what we know is there a lot of strange to the world?

It's a given like Ad onus ... Apollo nighties ... thin? Bet your hiding place on it ...

Good Thursday morning! Dental appointments and time with the grands at the rink, dentists retiring, doing what may be unnecessary work, Benadryl naps and bubbles, another mug picture (!) and new neighbours to meet, as well as all that will rise up in out thoughts and events today, We gather once again round about the Coffee Cart for coffee and tea, chat, support, and camaraderie. This morning we have fruit Danishes to enjoy with our caffeine. The tea water is boiling, the coffee is freshbrewed, the pastries are warm and fresh. All is ready, everybody is welcome. Come in and join the conversations!

Good morning everyone and thanks again @Redbaron. It’s a chilly one here and the house resonates with the sound of my husband’s cough. He hardly ever gets a cold but this one got him good! Both the chill and the cough are signs that the season has really changed this time.

Good morning. I take some meds to quash any side effects for two days after treatment. That means those two days can be quite decent. A small dose of a steroid gives a bit of an energy boost. I'll see if I can put that to some good use today.

That being said, my ebook is due in a day or two and it will disappear. I'll have to finish it to see how Gamache and Beauvoir solve the murder and how they deal with Francoeur. :)

I can probably do both to be honest. Will I? That's the question. I also started a book by a local author, Susan Juby that is set in this city. It's the third in a good series, so it might grab me too.

I've lived next door to pot smokers, too (before it was legal even). Hate the smell. Worst of any smoke that I can think of. I grew up with pipe smoke around me and while I'm not fond of inhaling any kind of smoke, at least pipe tobacco smelled better than pretty any other smoked substance I can think of (cigs, cigars, joints).

I don't have a huge problem with occasional wafts of pot or cigarette smoke floating by. It is a problem though when you can't sit outside on your site because you risk getting high yourself. It was that bad some days.

Yep, that happened with me, too. Yuck.

I finally got my library book. It took so long because of the postal strike. Only local libraries have a van to move books between them

That's crazy. Vancouver Island has a library that covers the island. I believe it takes 8 hours to drive from Victoria to Port Hardy (north end). The system uses its own vans to transport books from one branch to another. Of course, that works best in one network. Still, there must be a better way.

My book was coming from Cape Breton library. That’s 7 hours away. The local libraries in our valley have their own van. That’s about two hours apart. You must remember, NS has only 1 million residents. So there isn’t a lot of movement of books there.
I appreciate that they are keeping the carbon footprint low that way.

Good morning! Library book borrowings, and how the inter library system works in dif6efrent places, smoke clouds (other than from wildfires), and whatever else arises today joins us at the Coffee Cart, as we gather to discuss and support, share stories and events, and connect with each other over tea, coffee, and baked goodies. This morning we have fruit turnovers from our bakers to enjoy. The tea water is hot, the coffee freshbrewed, and turnovers warm and flaky. All is ready, and everyone is welcome. Come join in!

Borrow nothing for the Gods will take it away ... that's onus ... like give & take ...

Folk believe this stuff if you can convince them to stop processing ...

Well my day yesterday included finishing my ebook that was due today. Phew, I learned how it ended. I continued reading a book by local author Susan Juby. The book is set here which is cool. It's the third in a good series. I also knit on my f*** cancer hat. Lettering is more than halfway done then back to brainless knitting to the finish.

You guessed it, vacuum didn't move. Oh well.
