Good morning @Mrs.Anteater
You and I are the first ones at the coffee cart this morning. Funny how often this happens. The digital cat was meowing for her breakfast so I fed her.
My real cat has again refused to eat her special food and only nibbled a bit on the special dry food. I hate to throw out that expensive stuff. Only gave her a teaspoon full for supper.
I am going to do the Secret Santa draw tonight- Ninj did not get back to me with her address, so unfortunately, we have to leave her behind. ( I seem to remember that she has moved again since last Christmas).
I just finished my sister’s project bag. Looks great. Now I hope the postal service will pick up again soon, so I can send it ( and the Secret Santas, too).

What a day. I had bloodwork then planned to directly to a knitting group from there. I forgot to bring my meds to take with something to eat after the bloodwork. Sooooo, I had to go home to take them. I went back to the north end of town (from the south end) to the knitting group. I visited two yarn stores after that and got some yarn to make a shawl and yarn to make a toque for a friend. Then I went to coffee with some cancer buddies. Now I'm home. I'll sleep well tonight.

We are forecast to get a bomb cyclone, or windy rain storm. They're expecting power outages, especially on the west coast of the island. It has been a chilly 6 degrees and rainy today. I'm glad to be home under a quilt on my recliner.

I've been hearing about that. Definitely sounds like hunker under the quilt weather. It's cloudy and damp here but nothing like that. Just light showers and drizzle mostly.

Had x-rays of my foot today. Got a weird bump, seemingly bone, on it so my doc wants a closer look. Should have the report in a day or two.

'a bomb cyclone'....Weather reports are certainly getting more creative. Or maybe it is the weather that is more creative.

That's been the sentiment of commenters from from around the area. Apparently though, this isn't a new term. Who knew? Atmospheric river one day. Bomb cyclone another.

I was reading about that weather bomb, it's supposed to create massive waves.

There have been warnings about that. It will be interesting to see photos come from the west coast of the island.

The wind has picked up.

Had a bad sort of night tonight. Tuesdays are the night my progressive Xianity group meets, for a long time in person, now via Zoom. I need a co-leader on-line due to crappy internet, has been a lovely friend since the beginning of the pandemic. His wife of 62 years is dying, so I had to try to run meeting, unsuccessfully, pass off host to a friend when my internet collapsed 3 times due to Zoom. And crap, she's in her 80s, bad car accident 25 years ago, lost a leg, kidneys now failing, it's the circle of life, but I love her and it bites. Pray for Bonnie and Dave please,

Sadly these stories are common in our churches filled with aging seniors @BetteTheRed

But I am sorry for the losses which are in the midst of happening..

On a happier note, it looks like the digital cat has slipped out through the cat door. She does like to roam.

Good morning! For finicky cats, real and digital; forgetting medications and extra trips to retrieve them, foot x-rays, bomb cyclones (along with 'atmospheric river,' a term I never heard till recently), for power outages, internet outages, and people with family health concerns, for what may arise this day, the Coffee Cart is here as a gathering place, where we chat about it all, find and offer support, and drink coffee and tea, and indulge in baked goodies. Looks like the first of the holiday cookies and fruitcake has arrived!
The coffee is fresh brewed, tea water is ready, cookies and warm from the bakery. Come join in the fun!

I woke up to see that it is still snowing. The forecast says it may stop at some later time after piling drifts most of yesterday. ravel is not a wise idea right now. As we are both sick we weren't planning to go anywhere!
We picked up some germs at our family gathering and have been drooping, coughing, wheezing, rattling and sleeping much of the time since Friday. I spent time on the phone with my Respiratory Nurse and between us we developed a plan of sorts. Next was a a stubborn battle with the receptionist at the Doctors Office. She originally claimed there was no way I could see or speak to a doctor for several days and that I could go to the ER. Not recommended of course because we couldn't get the car out of the drive, and that we need to stay away from other people while sick.
Finally accessed a doctor who prescribed the needed meds and a plan going forward.
I woke to continued snow, feeling quite a bit better, and reading lots of people whining on FB because it wasn't supposed to start winter before they got their tyres changed!
I took some leftover ham out of the freezer and plan to make some jellied ham today.

Thanks for the fruitcake...yum!
We put up our pagan Christmas tree today and did some decorating......it sure creates a nice soft and soothing lighting.
Does everybody have their Christmas tree and decorations up?

Not yet @Waterfall but I will have it up before the first Sunday of Advent. I have already been looking through my Christmas decor and making a few decisions
I tend to put ours up shortly after remembrance day because I usually take it down very shortly after New Year's Day. This way we have time to enjoy it.

Ah feel better soon @KayTheCurler. Enjoy your cabin as much as you can.

We're still getting rain. Some wind gusts that aren't as bad as last night. Power is still out. I doubt hydro crews were out in full force last night. The park wasn't full of noisy generators through the night. Thankfully. Some are on now at 0600.

I'm supposed to go to the council meeting at the church this morning. The minister is on a gulf island. BC Ferries has canceled sailings so she might not make it. The church building had no power last night. I wonder if we'll have the meeting. Time will tell.

I find undecorating kind of sad. I took out my Christmas mugs yesterday…always my first nod to the upcoming season. I may start to decorate soon but the tree won’t go up until December.
There’s a respiratory infection/virus outbreak at the nursing home where my mom is receiving respite care. I won’t be visiting as I have gallbladder surgery in less than two weeks. As it is, I have a scratchy throat and runny nose.
