Every weekend at a cottage is justification for fireworks for some people.
I don't think we have let off fireworks in all the years I have been coming here (the place was already 20 years or so old when I was born so basically my entire life, though this is my first time up in something like 15 years). But, yeah, we know of people who have done it for b-days and such up here

Is Civic a time for incivility, given the general attitude towards antisocial behaviour and autonomy that leaves one out in the Kohl? Mortal behaviour is very alien for folk that believe themselves so agreeable ... leaves room for upstanding ethic in the tree ... epistemology? It can grow on you ... some study it for absorption ... other just for rote ... and never another thought about it!

Or is it a time to celebrate Canada's bestselling sedan? The Civic used to be bestselling car but its own stablemate the CRV has overtaken it, as has the Toyota RAV4 IIRC, now thanks to the obsession with SUVs. But, damn it, some of us still like sedans.:p

Will it be renamed Christine to elaborate on the love-hate syndrome that can consume folks? Imagine a small-light car ... I see powerful folk driving aircraft carriers ... arks!

Good morning! For successful moves to new campsites, and celebratory pyrotechnics, for everything else that fills the day, and our hearts and minds, we come to the coffee cart. All is ready, come on in.

The only time in recent memory that we set off fireworks was a few years ago down at our shore property. We thought it was safe and celebratory. However, the poor ducks in the area seemed to think it was guns firing...and they were in low flight over the water, maybe trying to blend in with the water. I've never wanted to do it again because I don't want to stress out the ducks and geese.

Good morning. It's cool and fresh this morning. We had some great thunderstorms last night. I hope the rain helped the fires in the area and that the lightning caused no harm. We're connecting with island friends today.

People in BC seem to love fireworks. They shoot them off for all kinds of occasions. That's frustrating when your dog doesn't like them. Thankfully Baela takes her lead from us. A few boomers last night made her jump. When she saw we were okay she was as well. Helios was never convinced that thunder or fireworks were okay just on our say so.

I have seen dogs get into closets and crawl spaces when they hear fireworks in the area. Poor pooches!

Our first dog, a Sheperd border collie cross, was stressed by fireworks, thunder, and 5he artillery for the army ( we lived close to a military base for 8 years. Our current dog, a Wheaton terrier, ignores all that stuff.

We finished putting up the tiles for the back splash for our kitchen yesterday and hung our newly painted shutters. Today is change the outside lights day. Tomorrow 8s first visit to my new family doctor and to Montreal for wife and daughter to go to a spa. Thursday is the day for putting on the grout for the backsplash.

Hope everybody’s having a good day/ better day. My scooter stalled a couple of blocks from home. I had a half full charge when I left, didn’t go far - so right now I’m sitting in the back of a European grocery plugged in for a few minutes. Good thing I stalled right in front of it!

I missed them this year. Didn’t want to wade through crowds.

Lucy neither. She's not as bothered by thunder as by fireworks, which send her skittering for the bathroom floor (the cool tile and the small window have convinced her that this is the safest place).

It's gorgeous here today. Low 20s, not too humid, nice breeze. Could stay like this all summer, as far as I'm concerned.

We had a lovely time exploring Wells-Gray Provincial Park today. It's a gorgeous spot where you could spend weeks without seeing it all. Our friends lived in the area, and she grew up in the park. It was cool to get to know that side of her better. 20220802113103_IMG_9309.jpg

Good morning, all! For scenic views, for pets who hide during fireworks displays, and those who don't, for scooters that lose power at bad times, and for the businesses that let them be recharged, for all the other events and moments that make up our days, let us gather round the coffee cart, All is ready, help yourself.

Thanks, Red. It's what I would consider a gorgeous morning here (almost afternoon). Mild but not cold and with a steady rain. I do prefer it when Godde waters versus me (which entails watering can and the rain barrel).

I went blueberry picking after work, just on the way home. The field was kept so tidy, the bushes were all mulched with clean shavings, evenly spaced, it even looked like someone would pick up the dropped berries, so neat was everything. I felt like picking in someone’s yard. 2.50 a pint. Will go again another time. Not used to go picking this early, usually, this would be raspberry time- which is this year already over. Everything is at least two weeks early.
