I know of a rabbi who doesn't understand the difference between spiritual and secular. What is body? What is soul? How many of your feelings, ergo your beliefs, originate in your gut flora?
Everyone goes by feelings, that is part of our fall, feelings manny times are wrong, sinful, yet we still have them and act out on them, some Christians describe this by saying its soulful, being carnal, or the natural man, being earthly and so forth.
Bring spiritual is minus our feelings and living by principle , who’s principles we live by is another topic, I myself try , with failures of course, to live by Christ’s principles , even when I don’t feel like it , I put my feelings aside and live by Christ’s Principals.
We also see this In Jesus daily Life, especially just before His crucifixion , Scripture says Jesus Prayed to the Father that He would not have to go through the humiliation and crucifixion. Scripture says Jesus as he prayed He sweated droplets of blood, can you imagine the pressure, His feelings. I highly doubt Jesus felt like dying for us evil people. Yet Jesus on to death when on the Spirit and Will of God, minus His feeling/ego.
I also believe that all The forces of evil at that time Jesus praying not to endure the cross, were working on Him full force. How easy it would have been for Jesus to say , Hey man I am not doing this, yet he put His Feelings aside and went by the Spirit.
The fact that you and I and everyone on this board and all others who try and understand this man we call Jesus, is a testament to Jesus’s Life and His living by the Spirit, regardless of what we believe about Him.
If Jesus lived by feelings, he would have disappeared into history.
