My Dad's GP wasn't even aware of his cancer diagnosis/surgery. It had been a different doctor who had sent him for the ultrasound, couldn't get into his own GP soon enough.
We was aware there was surgery but thought it was for something else.
We really do need a system that can flag things for the entire system.

Which is what a properly done provincial EHR system should do, pull together data from all the various inputs to create "one place to look" that is also properly secured (unlike a lot of small, local medical EHR systems). Your GP should be able to login, pull up your record, and see a complete history. They should also be able to send a referral and receive the report, order tests, send scrips, and so on, all from one login into one interface. Not sure about Alberta, but this is starting to happen in Ontario. However, with the patchwork that has developed in the absence of one, it's going to be long slog for the folks at Ontario Health trying to make it happen.

It's what ConnectCare was supposed to be. UCP decided to use Telus instead for the non-hospital, non-AHS clinics - meaning almost all family doctors and a good chunk of specialists. Probably because of Shandro's wife.
No idea when that rollout will be.

I know of Telus' healthcare offering but not a lot of detail. I assume it's something they've licensed and rebranded, similar to how their cloud phone system is rebranded RingCentral.

Each health authority in BC seems to have something. I can see some appointments, imagine reports, bloodwork reports right now. They will be adding more features as time goes on. The provincial health authority which looks after cancer care, pediatrics and other things doesn't seem to have an online portal yet. That would be nice to have.
