I chose not to use fabric softeners because they can build up in washing machines affecting their performance and dryer sheets because they can build up a coating in dryers. The no scent part was a bonus.

We mostly don't use softener or sheets either. Seems to be okay for most of what we wash. There's a box of sheets in the laundry room closet for the rare times we use them but I don't think it has been touched in a long time.

I discovered I can do nicely without softeners or dryer sheets. The dryer is shared by someone who does use them though, and there's more than enough residue to keep static at bay.
I also find towels are less absorbent when they've been softened.
About Gain. I had a sample and used it in a load of wash. I broke out in hives wearing a shirt washed in it.

Tide has so many versions, including unscented so could be which one. Allergic to them all I have found.

Bounty shhets, I used to use the unscented ones. Would cut them up and paper towel off the excess. Didn't use them for all loads. Stopped many years ago though.
I do find certain dryer loads have excessive static, I miss them for that purpose.

Yeah, I know the feeling. My wife has these little nylon socks and they tend to cling to my shirts and stuff. Sometimes I'll find one inside a shirt as I get it out to wear.

Yep, that's another one. Love that snap, crackle, pop as you pry items apart in the laundry basket.

I use unscented laundry strips, dryer balls, and a half measure of liquid Downy in the fabric softener dispenser, but I rinse twice.

I have now gotten to the point that I am afraid to change anything. And I still have half a dozen patches of me where the big win in the battle is to keep the skin unbroken.

That's actually been something I have been told not to do - put it outside to dry. Pollen, mold, etc.
I do airdry a fair bit, but not sheets, blankets, towels, etc.

We got slack hanging out clothes to dry this winter; however, the lines are back busy.

I still like to give them a fluff in the dryer, when they come off the line.
Also tends to kill any spiders, etc that landed on them!

I dry outside, AFTER tree sex is over. This is absolutely my most awful allergy period every year.

I find there's always something. I guess it depends on the item too. Pillow case would be worse than a towel.
