...includes Pierre Poilievre and Andrew Sheer (among others) discreetly tucked into the list. Haven't Canadians pretty much made their mind up about them and kicked them to the curb? Why take a chance on them again? Aren't they party liabilities? It would be the equivalent of the next Lib cabinet including Bill Morneau. People sure are weird.

The party is limited by who actually sits in the seats.

The leadership team signals the direction that the party attempts to move in or, at the very least, projects an image the voter is invited to buy into.

The shadow-cabinet are the people tasked to take a singular focus for opposition. You spread that out as much as you can because if only the leadership team went after cabinet ministers you would need to have at least as many members as the governing party.

Unless the opposition critic is effective (read loud) they will not be remembered and opposition critic is just a new line on their resume.

And they also want to have voices from various regions, and honour past members. Also keep in mind that Andrew Sheer may not have been the best leader, but he could be a very good critic or even minister, just like Joe Clark was an effective Progressive Conservative minister of Foreign Affairs in the Mulroney government.

That being said, I tend to question the more political choices, like replacing Alain Reyes by Richard Martel as political representative in Québec.

I didn't think it was all that bad considering the group to pick from. Overall the average is fairly young compared to the past. Duncan being on the leadership team shows a bit of openness too.

The abstract mind can do some imaginative things to the absolute mind as seized up ... thus great fantasying without onus .. as no one wishes the responsibility to be included ... thus something has to degrade ... what is questionable. Thus lots of queries ... like where did it go?

Was it eliminated or just ignored as naivete? Sheer word play ... staged? Maybe ...
