I am fascinated by this achievement, we sure could use some of this thinking for our indigenous people that continue to live in mold infested squalor IMO.

Looks like you're right Kimmio....some are pre fab constructions that are not for sustainable long term use but some are repurposed elsewhere.

Keep in mind, though, that part of why they are able to do things so fast is the total absence of citizen input. The government says "make it so" and it's done. Here, we have to debate everything to death, argue about which level of government is responsible, and so on. There, the politburo meets, the president makes a speech, and the workers start working.
True, but could you imagine if we could just work this fast to create homes for the homeless or low income?| But as you say, too many people looking out for number one....as a sudden high vacancy rate would threaten investors hold on the rental market and their demands for high rents.

I am wondering when Canadians will be back home after their isolation in China. It seems that many other nations collected their citizens several days ago. What is the delay for Canada - does anybody know?

According to the news and minister last night the delay is getting approval to land. A plane is sitting in Seoul I think

With regards to the coronavirus, I've been wondering......the rate of the virus has been growing exponentially within China.....starting from a very small number of people infected in Wuhan. We now have similar small numbers in over 26 countries. Whatever the source or origin of this virus, we don't know, but now without needing the source present the virus continues to spread throughout China at great speed and with a much slower speed in the other countries affected.
Canadian news agencies are now reporting that for Canada the virus is slowing down. And other countries seem to have contained the virus without having the consequences that the Chinese are experiencing......
Wuhan has two biochemical labs within it's city that deals specifically with this virus....and yet seems to be having quite a problem with control and also appears to be dependent on other nations for a vaccine. One would think that if other countries have a small amount of people with the virus that know one knows how it is spread, would also be experiencing exponential growth in cases .....but they're not......instead it is starting to appear as a tamed controllable virus.
Are we to believe that we are so much more efficient and better at containing this new virus than the Chinese? Or that this virus, once it hit our shores, shouldn't be somewhat out of control by now?
Can anyone explain this to me?
(and no, I'm not buying into the theory that China released this virus on purpose)

Probably all of the above, plus maybe a bit of Canadians not knowing what to do with them when they land here. The public seemed to support quarantines and yet the scientists seemed to say it wasn't necessary....so public opinion or science?
It's weird. The whole thing. The rapid spread in China, the rapid, perfectly planned and built hospitals, their experimental use of HIV and Ebola drugs...and the fact that it's not spreading as fast and furiously anywhere else.
Yeah and the great nation of Thailand (sarcasm) has developed the most promising vaccine....instead of an emerging superpower like China who has had a previous experience with SARS.....and we are told the underdeveloped nations are more at risk.
