Nova Scotia shootings

Whereas the only people who appear not to get the alerts are some of us "pay as you go" folks. You should hear the store when an alert is broadcast. Phone's blaring away from every corner, the staff lockers upstairs turning into a cacophany of alert sounds amplified by the tin walls of the lockers.
And then even if one doesn't get it on their cellphone, there's radio, tv, and a bunch of other people talking about it.

I initially thought domestic violence when I heard there were people who had died at the first scene. If domestic violence was involved, it was only a small part. It's hard to comprehend the enormity of this. Such a tragedy.
I thought it was a spree shooting, which would be awful, but it was even worse. Terrible.

I like this article. Except I don’t think we are talking funny here.

And our Premier said that the Province had requests from outside journalist for exceptions to the two weeks quarantine. And he declined. Good for you. I am sure there are plenty of journalists already here.

All one has to believe is that no one was shot ... a trumped up value system? Kind numbs down the head man ... no pain, no fear, nothing tuit! La La LAN fast approacheth! Great numbers go after that concept ... loss of thought and eM pathy ... the father of all pain! R*cis? Not trans but crossover ... to the same side ... the stunned and stumped beginning ... DR Seuss! (never gathered nothing ... as Eire it is) Soul's breath ...

I have a visceral reaction to anyone who says our entire country is mourning or grieving in situations like this.

We are shocked and saddened. We feel sorrow, perhaps, and empathy for the survivors. But I find it cheap talk to claim grief for oneself. I see it as the parallel of cultural appropriation, actually. Mourning and grieving belong to the bereaved IMO.

Picky picky.

Thus the icon of Ibis in the Egyptian abstract ... imagination gone feral?

All, or many may just be stressed or fearful and thus they must face it ... others excise and remove it excessively so they loose something in the process ... so IT ghost! Only essence as dark stinking intelligence ... unseen?

I agree. It sounds sanctimonious. We are shocked and very sad for all this families. But their extreme grief seems lessened when others try to claim it as their own

Apparently one can get a real RCMP uniform from stores that sell military things. When someone retires they can do what they want with their uniform. Maybe they should stop this practice and leave them at their precinct (?) when they quit or retire....probably that should apply to police and other authoritive uniforms.
It's suspected the uniform the gunman used was bought at one of these places.

I read (CBC News) that on retirement, RCMP officers are expected to turn in their uniforms or destroy them. There is probably very little follow-up done to make sure the retirees have complied.

Shouldn't be that hard in this day and age. Track equipment issued including uniforms in their HR system or a separate asset tracking system, then check it all back in when they resign or retire. Anything not checked in comes out on a report and is followed up. If no follow-up activity, next manager up the chain gets a report. So the question would be whether the tracking isn't done right or managers aren't following up.

Also, not a hard thing to get a proper tailor to make. You just need the right shape and shade of jacket, pants, could add your own detailing.

What's puzzling me is the identity of the shooter. Was he a "local boy"? And if so, that gives a bit of a lie to that folks-y article from the Sun that suggests everyone knows everyone; I'm just not sure how one could disguise evil character to that extent?

His practice was actually in Dartmouth as I understand it but he owned several properties both there and in the area where it happened. It's a "cottage country" type area whose population doubles or more in the summer. So I am not sure if he was a "local boy" or a "summer resident".

An article I read last night (I'll try to find it again), suggested he apparently was rather sleazy in his property business, though never broke the law. Even tried to rip off his own uncle on a property transaction. His only prior, though, was an assault charge and that was almost twenty years ago.

That sounds a bit more sensible; thanks. I'm sure we'll all learn more about the demographics of the area as the story unfolds.

He was a Denturist and owned his own business....I heard some refer to him as someone who was always jovial.
Not sure if he was married or not but I think one of the victims was also a Denturist.

Her family aren't saying if she knew him but definitely not a relative or spouse that anyone has disclosed.

Both CBC and the Globe have good articles profiling the victims.

A jovial adult who beats up an unrelated child? Stuff seems off. Unless it's physical fitness I'm also rather wary of those who can't get into the police/RCMP/etc.

Ted Bundy was quite charming Ive read...looks and evil can be deceiving.

Charming isn't the same as always jovial. I didn't know the guy, but mean, violent drunk seems like a likely description to me. Jovial at times maybe. Always jovial? Seems very unlikely.

I am sticking my neck out to tell the masses they don't know the half of what has happened in the background ... i.e. out of sight!

Just wait ... be persistent in this mode ... contrary to some modes of polity ... fools rush ... just watch eM! (to be continued)
