Please provide me with the name of a person actually voted into parliament that is living within your income ... someone that you have voted for perhaps?

Seems our indignation is making you indignant! .... being that we are in a Next Federal Election Thread ... I have offered my criticism as well as my resolve to prepare myself accordingly should the powers that be prevail ... I have not given up ... I am not helpless ... I am not even anxious ... I am aware ... that includes being aware of the negative ... you can't fight what you refuse to acknowledge ... I am pretty much done my research now and have stated here that as far as politics goes ...
I am still an anarchist ... but now I understand the necessity of fighting FIRE with FIRE ...

*chuckle*

i am aware that you are aware -- no matter what words i use 'anxious', 'concerned', 'upset', etc...

i think that if you are really serious, that you now know how to 'live off the grid' & are able to protect you and your family

you really aren't fighting anything here -- this is a terribly small forum, made up of friends...all you've been doing is quote mining and giving links...you haven't shown how to *alleviate* these issues that you see...how you, you and no one else, are trying to deal with it outside of your need to post words and pictures, which are, frankly, not as useful as actions...

please don't feel the need to defend yourself--please don't get into a siege mentality (what i also call a 'gun mentality') and for sanity's 'sakes' don't announce yourself in an unsecured forum if you're going to break the law? especially don't use this site as a place to recruit fellow lawbreakers...this isn't that kind of site. there are like minded tribe's people out there...not here. we're peaceful. if you feel the need to violate the law, please do it somewhere else?

ty for bringing Mr. Galati to my attention -- i like being surprised and i think that is one thing that you've shown how some people are dealing with some of the things that you find concerning

I actually don't expect them to live at my income level, because my income level is low at the moment and I wouldn't wish a hard working person, working for positive change so people don't have to be poor to have to get by on what I do as it would only make their job more difficult and I don't know all the ins and outs and obstacles they face with that effort. There are a few honest politicians out there and I have no issues with a person honestly earning a reasonable income putting their hearts and minds and integrity into what they do..

@UnDefinitive you have mentioned before that you live with someone who has a valid steady decent paying job, and so presumably they support you to survive. Presumably you pay for your lifestyle, your food, your rent or mortgage, your Internet, your utilities, your transportation, however modest or not your lifestyle might be, with money, to some extent - am I wrong? There is not a single person living in the modern/ post modern world who doesn't need to earn a living somehow, pay for their living with some money - and maybe just maybe democracy, if everyone came together and participated could slowly but surely bring about the end to poverty. But if 40% of people don't vote we'll never know, right? It does no good to stand apart and criticize the few who are working hard - human beings just like everyone, working within an imperfect humanly flawed system, but it's far better than some places, to make changes that benefit the poor and marginalized because they earn a living at it, even if it's a comfortable one. So what? Like I said, if they are doing it with integrity I have no problem with that.

Or is that a venial sin as only thinking about dying to present imaginings? The does dyeing without the "I" allow moor distinct hues in the 40 shades? Verti ghost!

The love to die for ... as a lower democratic (demonic) means (all that below the 85 wealthiest people in the upper 1/2 of the world as it presently stands) that some stand on the edge of emotional existence ... sharpened to the sense of "cutting out"?

As that Shakespearean character said in simulation: damned spot ... get ouda Eire"! Some feel that coming on!

There has to be something better beyond this ... if life is a pain ... or is that just an abstract OBI?

Well, it starts with information - and the voters don't have any. Our news media lies and propagandizes and manipulates us. And the parties that lick the boots of big business are the only ones who get enough to be able to run a campaign. I'm afraid democracy is not a starting point - because it really doesn't exist The starting point has to to be educating people and, oh, my, people can be tough to educate.

Yeah, people have to be informed and do their best. I imagine a lot of people are going to vote for Justin, new voters even, just because he's handsome, whether he's up to the job or not (and whether they're informed or not), he's got celebrity attraction.

However...don't you think if 100% of people were informed and actually voted, and actually participated in politics between elections, things would start looking better?

@Kimmio ... I do not see the logic behind public servants earning 10-20 times more than the average income of the people they are serving. But that is just me ... you are right in remembering that I have a supportive partner who holds a steady decent (digits representative of money) paying job ... In order to make ends meet his salary is not enough ... so he works at least 10 hours per week overtime ... plus his employer matches 5% to a RRSP each e-pay ... which he cashes out approximately every 4th e-pay period because the salary after deductions is still not enough... also he is collecting CPP every month since he turned 60 ... still not enough ... enough has to afford substantial spousal support to his former wife ... as well as debts outstanding from that union (O/S taxes and selling the marital home at a significant loss). I stopped working for money January of 2014 ... now I 'work' for the sheer fun of it ... I do not 'cost' him a lot and the tax 'benefits' are better if I do not have 'earnings' ... we live modestly ... and if we were indebted only to the point of our own expenses ... he could work 4 days a week and we would have more than enough. He used to vote ... now he does not ... I never did ... so I suppose you could say we are robbing you of your idea of democracy. Personally I hope more for 100% non-confidence-ballot-rejecting voters but I doubt that's going to happen either. In the meantime we all do what we have to do to stay out of jail ... but I will not be satisfied to do that for the rest of my life and it is not what I want for the next or the next generations. Promoting alternatives (or presenting evidence to suggest that we need them) to the status quo seems to be frowned upon and even construed by some in this forum as unlawful so I will as @Inannawhimsey advises ... join a tribe that is less offended by my admittedly 'unpolished' (novice) attempts at exercising free speech ... I will get better at it ... perhaps I will read more and write less when I drop in next.

We have less than that and we live in an overly expensive city. This is not about a competition over who has less, though. I was just pointing out that the reality is that we all need to earn money to survive, including you, or your partner on your behalf.

If we didn't have some form of government there'd be chaos. It would be ugly. People who've lived under post war conditions with collapsed governments and cancelled/ defunct currency, for example - everything falls apart, the social fabric falls apart, and it's dystopian hell for people and takes a long time to rebuild - and emotional scars remain. It makes the downtown eastside of Vancouver look easy to live in. It's not an idyllic communal love-in. You romanticise it like somehow you think we can go from the problems we have now to a perfectly symbiotic community without working with what we've got - which, if you look around the world, we are extremely fortunate to have even when we struggle to make ends meet sometimes. It's a hell of a lot easier here than for people Syria, or Eastern Ukraine, for example. Easier than North Korea. People need to participate in order to improve the political system we have, transform it into what young people will need in the future. Younger generations need to be informed and get involved - and the dinosaurs will retire eventually and so young people can shape their world they way they need it to be.

Well, with some forms of government, chaos is what you get. The US is very close to that now.

Ever notice how quickly young people become dinosaurs?

I fly out of Detroit-Wayne International Airport quite a bit (London is about halfway between it and Pearson in Toronto) and have to drive through the city on I-94 to get there. The parade of decaying and burned out buildings visible just from the interstate has to be seen to be believed. I have heard from friends who have been in some of the not-so-nice areas that that is only scratching the surface.

someone mentioned CHILDREN & DINOSAURS??? incantation!!!

Is there anything more of a challenge for a politician that an electorate that doesn't understand?

The political extremists can't stand anything more medium that that ... or otherwise they would be consumed by their own creation or the lack thereof as stated in occlude the O'sis on material we should substantially know about.

Thus from the English spin on archaic Sack'son-ism when the subject, object and verb-a-buse the entire thing can be easily confused ... and thus the confusion about I Corinthians 13 and the last verse about understanding and love and if one should come first or in parse 've pairs?

My word to the eliminated wise is if they throw crap at the common population give eM a chit of it back but only bit by bit ... as they don't learn very fast as sloe jinnis! Drag'n spirits ...

One should understand the icons of dreams ... or the far out 'd ness thereof ... good for mental exercise to keep the ball of whetted fatty acids (neu raileđ issue) from going completely foul and taking off for the other's IDe ... or why the chicken crossed ova ...

Twas a roué stir ... and if it isn't partly intense ... it will go down as wrote-in thought! ...

How myths are initiated ... to counter authoritative corruption of truth! This counterbalances the authority of lesser gods ... untrue desires or just passing phantasmal ... mal-formed phantasy?

Thus the brain must be energized with autonomous entity if it is to be resonant with nothing of substance ... thus the immaterial existence ... of that which appears not ... or pure incarnation of intangibles ... nosh-ite (stuff lying behind the sinuses that interested the Egyptian mummifying group)? Thus the extraction of brains after the loss of intelligence ... several moments too late ... it was assumed the thoughts went nowhere .. and they didn't know Eire?

*giggle* another example of how the MSM is dying, dying, dying, when it tries to pass something like this off as 'news' or even 'wrong' :3

Either that, or when i was reading that article, i was in the presence of a deeply conservative religious sect who are in dire need of rectal dried narcissus extractions, that would blanche at a canada goose doings its natural business? (as the warning: graphic language on the video indicated...man, if that's graphic language i'd hate to see whomever wrote that thinks of miners...they'd instantly die of fits...)

GO CASCADIA!!! GO CANADA!!! may you never be reduced to meaningless sound bytes, having to watch everything you say and do to market it to some absent & insane 'average viewer', and still be able to be hobbits that laugh at themselves...don't give in to the fear merchants of Harper & Barack...THRIVE!!!

and Welcome Back Kotter, c'mon, he's da bomb! but gluten intolerance jokes??? THAT WENT TOO FAR!!!
