Meh. Same as I feel about a lot of 'roots' music. Some excellent, some okay. Nice rhythm, of course. I go to the Montreal Jazz Festival every year; usually catch at least 6 outdoor acts; lots of roots music there, particularly from colonial French African countries.

There are many different kinds of music that I enjoy

One artist, Pogo (Perth native Christopher Bertke), I have come to enjoy. He does wonderful pieces with bits that he'll take from various movies, songs, speech, even ads, and turn them into music. A lot of his music for me is sunshine & coffee (his piece 'upular' gets me goin).

Here's his latest, from his youtube channel.


Another artist that I have come to enjoy some of his work is animal rights activist & DJ, Moby (Richard Hall). I was introduced to his work at a fur meet -- his "Beautiful" caught my attention and made me look for more.

Then there's DJ Meister Fatboyslim. DJs are a pretty neet breed -- they have immediate feedback as to how they're doing, even within a concert -- the unsuccessful DJs don't learn or pay attention to this. He's got some wicked songs, from 'Weapon of Choice', where we get to see Christopher Walken dance through a hotel lobby, to 'Demons', where we get to see two lovers trying to survive a possessed piano as Macy Gray sings on...

Aimee Mann is still up to her old tricks. I remember my first experience with her was from the movie Magnolia (which the director said he built around her work)

More new stuff t'me

another child of the internet, Dawn Richard (who is of creole & haitian descent), after going through a chapel perilous (her father's cancer diagnosis, the collapse of her band, her grandma's death), she intentionally isolated herself (even from the internet. no phone) just to get this album out, which is called Blackheart (part 2 of a 'trilogy', starting with Goldenheart), which is put out via her own label, Dawn Entertainment. Here is the second single from that album, a music video that she co-directed

I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the Happy Songs thread so I'll probably just stick it in both :D.

The best Canadian band so far this decade has put out the first single off their upcoming second full album and I love it after only one listen. Everything that made their first CD great is in full gear here. Hope the rest of the new material is as good.

 

Kina Grannis I've raved about before both here and on the old site. Imaginary Future is the stage name of her husband Jesse Epstein. They've been together since high school and work together frequently though, so far, haven't gone to the point of creating a shared identity as Luke Doucet and Melissa McLelland of Whitehorse have. This is one of Imaginary Future's songs from a new album that came out of his feelings about Kina and their recent (2013) marriage.
 
Is that an unknown intellectual device that in the go round ... could be questioned as a particulate cyclotron for handling bits of meme aurai ... and thus condemned as a bomb in thinking?

Being the Roman attitudes towards thinkers is that they are dangerous when expanded upon ... and thus words run off like wee chits ... bomb ass tic bloopers?
 
On the other hand would the authorities know it was a blooper? There is evidence to the otherwise that would indicate opposition to any such conception ...
 
Do any un-conceived thoughts expand as indeterminate and insensitive unknowns? Thus accounting for great expanses of dark matter out of which weird energy pops as a differing shade! is this fore seeable or just un-seen visions ...
 
Have we mis't something other than mysths ... on Tao, Eta and other things necessary in the expelling of words from piles a' dirt, ochre and other clay mounds as perhaps may be form ID able or not?
 
If des UNE goes out an leaves us; will we still have the darkness as an extent of abstraction about where we should go to see de Lights?

Would this be ova, or pacifist, under the (subtle) span, or arch ... under which trolling and d'rolling (drooling?) occurs as a sense required to whet the tongues ... for getting a thought in edgewise about religious sects ... when we are struggling with the sec tante ... and not knowing which way to go in the abstract encounter to the event horizon that could blow your mind ... sometimes know ass -X or a different dialogue in the exchange of necessary info on growing psyche ... since we didn't wish to know in the initial stages ... the beginning of the faux pas on learning!

Does the cosmos drip of sects or is that just a conflict in the alternate side ... after the exchange?

Am I dualistic enough to remain in determinate as wished in the paradigm about such ongoing things?
 
If loosing IT is a continuum ... is recovery a necessary thing for following thoughts? Thus the long haul as encountered in the drawing of something from nothing ... or drew IDs ...

Came across this on Youtube. It a suite of themes from three adaptations of Batman (the 1966 tv show starring Adam West, the 1989 movie starring Michael Keaton, and the recent movie trilogy starring Christian Bale) with the Batmobiles from each of the three as the backdrops. Nicely performed.
