You don't have to -----you can believe as you wish ----we all have free will to do so ----but the Good News of the Bible right from the get go is all about the Salvation that is coming to all people who want to accept it ----God has given us a way back to Him ----if we choose not to enter into His plan that that is our right ----The Poor ---the Rich --the down trodden --the imprisoned etc --etc all need to hear this Gospel message ---and we Christ--ians are called to help where needed in our society while we are here on this earth to give Glory to God -----All good fruits that we bear come from the Holy Spirit not ourselves ----

It is very good for unbelievers to assist with helping the poor ---the down trodden ---etc but God does not Get the Glory ---and it won't save the person helping the poor person or the poor person themselves in the end ----many unbelievers may not care where the poor person ends up in the end of their life but True Christ-ians are called to care and not just help the poor but preach the Good News to that person so they can make up their own mind where they want to spend eternity----that is not our choice to make for them -----if the poor --the down trodden ---the imprisoned --the widow etc etc is ignorant of the Good News then the onus is on us who have the knowledge of the truth to share it and bring the light into their darkness -----

Here Jesus is says this ----Now Note ----He is speaking not about the Physically Poor here ---He is speaking about the Spiritually Poor --who are the Spiritually Poor ---The ones who wear the Darkness of this world that has blinded the minds of God's Creation to His light of the Gospel message ----And all who are in bondage to the desires of this world as well as in bondage to other people and to free us from the god of this world ------that is the core of Jesus message ----and He helped the physically poor --the sick ---the down trodden that was part of His ministry --as it is part of the believers job by and through the Holy Spirit -----

A lot of discussion over the last while. I've been a bit too busy to follow it all because I had four funerals this week - but will try to catch up. My busy week has left me quite late posting this one. It's based on Hebrew 2:9 and followed on the heels of "Christ the King" Sunday last week, and was a reflection on Jesus' power and authority. Not a comfortable subject for some, I know - but to me, essential.

My Faith Thoughts: A Thought For The Week Of November 27, 2017

We are looking at two ways, one of which each of us may freely choose. Choosing one is turning away from the other. Moses offers people a choice between the way of life and the way of death. The way of death being Pharoh’s domain. A way in which a small minority lives the life of power and pride. This while the great majority suffers exploitation and oppression. This oppressed people long for deliverance. This longing is heard by God, who calls Moses for the work of liberation. The way of God will cast down the way of the world.

The prophet Jeremiah was arrested and thrown down a well. Why? Because he pronounced the word of God in the courts of power. King and priests had been seduced and ensnared by the way of the world. The way of power employed by the few to enslave the many.

Debt bondage is just as real now as it was in the day of Pharoh. Whole populations enslaved to the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the boastful pride of life. This with the affirmations and encouragements of preachers, teachers and prophets of the Christian religion. How do you spell whore of Babylon?

What about the prophet Michiah? Four hundred false prophets assured the king that his plans would succeed. Michiah was called to tell the truth. He did do and was jailed. This regularly happens when truth speaks to power. Jesus makes this quite plain. Following in his way will lead to trouble with religious and political powers.

Something like our neighbour Mr. Trump, Herod was determined to make Jerusalem great again. He totally succeeded on the material side. And totally failed on the spiritual side. The same goes for the priests, prophets and teachers dedicated to the temple in Jerusalem. All while the people in the land were being exploited and oppressed, as were the seed of Abraham in Egypt.

We, who eyes to see and ears to hear, are well aware that the perennial and pernicious rise of a powerful minority brings the land and its peoples suffering and sorrow. By the light of truth tellers in all times and places we are informed and equipped to resist and refuse the misuse and abuse of power. Knowing well that choosing the way, the truth, and the life will bring forward the anger of the powers and principalities by which the planet and its peoples are being exploited and oppressed.

Our Cafe companion unsafe thinks I made a bad decision and deserved the consequences. My decision was for obedience to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. As one who has counted the cost and shouldered the responsibility, I fully accepted the consequences of my actions. As I will accept the consequence of obedience in the days to come.

Why did Jesus teach us to pray that the way of God be expressed on earth as it is heaven?

If you wanted to start a cult and get people to do your bidding for free, it would look exactly like this does. Promise something completely amazing to people who are desperate and have nothing, but not now, oh no. In the *next* life. You get idiots running around saying and doing what you want, growing the cult, and you'll never have to make good on anything. It's bloody perfect.

If you want to be taken seriously in a time when people understand the mechanisms for taking advantage of others, you can't be such an obvious cult. At least *try* to hide it.

The spiritual man has and is continuing to crucify the lusts of the flesh, the lusts of the eye, and the pride of life – the Self-life. Self (carnality) will never take one step after Jesus. But when Self is denied, if we take up the cross, the old, sinful, Adamic nature will be slain out of us by the Word, by the Spirit, by the blood of Jesus, and we shall come to the mind of Christ. This is not to degrade the gifts. He who degrades the gifts, degrades the Giver of the gifts. The gifts are given for the edifying and ministry of the church. They are very precious, but we must not confuse the gifts of the Spirit with the fruit of the Spirit.

I don't agree with you. I think when Jesus offers the "preferred position" to the poor, the sick, etc., he is talking about the "Kin-dom of Godde" - right here, right now, on the ground - none of this airy-fairy "it will be fine after you die if you believe the right points of doctrine". The Kin-dom is amongst us; we just have to wake up and construct it.

For 64 years, under Caesar Augustus (27 BCE to 14 CE) and later his step son Tacitus (14-37 CE), Rome was experiencing a transition from a republic to an Empire. During this period, Rome created a long period of peace or Pax Romana , but Jesus saw this Roman "peace" as based on an oppressive rule of force. This was not the peace of the kingdom that Jesus preached. His kingdom was different and "not of this world" and this upset Rome.
He presented an alternative to Roman political authoritarianism. Jesus endangered their existing peace and became a disturber of their peace by proclaiming His own Kingdom's peace. In doing this, He was essentially murdered legally, through Roman law', in order to preserve this "Roman peace" .....using crucifixion.

Jesus became a martyr for His kingdom and Rome may also have become God's instrument for His will to be done. And as often happens when a hero is murdered, even after the body/person may have been destroyed, the message becomes elevated and rises above the oppressors and takes on a life of it's own for the followers to continue to proclaim. Death is not the end of the message of Jesus' Kingdom of peace if we continue on with the work that He began.

We sin after we are saved because we still have the Old Man Residue in our thinking ----this needs to be renewed by us -----and until we do that we will continue to miss the mark ---but we don't have to sin we have a resource ---God's Grace to call upon even in our Carnal state -----

The spiritual man who is the Mature Christ--ian has the mind of Christ and has mastered his Carnal fleshy thinking and no longer thinks like the world ----he has all the fruits of the spirit ----self control over all emotions ----peace in every situation ---waits for the Holy Spirits direction in all matters ----patience in all areas of their life ----Agape abound ----has joy all the time no matter what happens -----etc --etc


This is up to us Not God ----we are transformed to the Spiritual Man by renewing our worldly thoughts to line up with God's Word ---Our Spirit is Renewed but not our minds ----you can believe this or not up to you ----This is what I work on every day and it will be till I die cause I am still far from mastering my Carnal worldly mind to the Spiritual mind of Christ -----we remain Carnal till we advance to Spiritual ----
