Waterfall ----your quote -----Should I assume that God's grace always existed, even before Jesus came?
unsafe says and posted below
JesusThe Son always existed and God is Grace ---Grace is a person not a thing -----
"THE GRACE OF GOD"
"THE GRACE OF GOD"
People also ask
What is the grace of God all about?
That four word phrase "the
grace of God is a synonym for Jesus: "For the
grace of God has appeared for the salvation of
all men." (RSV) How beautiful! The sequence of phrases puts in good perspective the reality of His manifestation. He is the gift of
God's grace by which
all men may be saved.
What does it mean to be in the grace of God?
Common Christian teaching is that
grace is unmerited mercy (favor) that
God gave to humanity by sending his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on a cross, thus securing man's eternal salvation from sin.
THE
MEANING OF
GRACE[edit] The
word '
grace' (CHEN in Hebrew, CHARIS in
Greek), as it is used in the scriptures, literally
means 'favour'
, to bend or stoop in kindness to another as a superior to an inferior. It has the idea of graciousness in manner or action.
Waterfall ---your quote ----Therefore wouldn't Jesus have also come to teach us HOW to love God and how we should love one another? Wouldn't this suggest that "being" or at least attempting to be Christlike is desired by God also?

Jesus taught us about a certain type of Love Waterfall ----it is not human love which has many human demands -----I will love you if you don't hurt me ---I will love you as long as ---etc -----Jesus came to teach us about Agape Love ---an unconditional Love that will never Fail ---it has no demands ----or boundaries ----This love can only be gotten by having God in you --it is a fruit of the spirit not of our corrupted human nature ---we alone cannot produce Agape a Love that is consistence and True no matter what situation or person comes against you ----This is the Love Jesus came to teach us about -----
How are we suppose to Love God ----with Agape ---we are to put Him first before all else and obey His instructions and directions in our life ---we have to lay self down --God becomes out total focus ----He is first in our lives before our family before our spouse and before all else ----total obedience ----He gets all the Glory for loving our neighbour ----He gets all the Glory for all we do for others -----we are His total Servant
Waterfall --your quote ----Wouldn't this suggest that "being" or at least attempting to be Christlike is desired by God also? Living in obedience to the law of Christ?

No Human on their own power can be Christ like -----For Starters the Scripture is very clear that God love all His Creation but turns His face from the wicket ------we have a sinful human nature and in God's eyes we are away from Him -----He is there for us but we choose to disobey Him by not believing in His word which says it is Truth and not believing that sin keeps us from His presents so we have abandoned Him and we have put a wedge between Him and us by not changing the way we think -------
As far as living in obedience to the law of Christ -----What makes you Think that you or any human alone can live in obedience to Christ -----no man on their own power can do that and if we think we can we are gravely fooling ourselves -------
You either believe this Scripture or you don't -----God's word says it is Truth -----so who are we to dispute it -----
Whaterfall ---Your Quote ------Why does James tell us we are also justified by works and not by faith alone.
Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principle thing so get wisdom and with all your getting get understanding --------
Waterfall you are just picking a piece of scripture and running with it to say that you can we saved by the works you do and the Bible is very clear on telling us that we are not saved by works -----
Lesson 11: Are We Justified by Works? (James 2:20-26)

We are justified by faith alone, but good works prove that our faith is genuine.
1. James believed, with Paul, that we are justified by faith alone.
First, we must keep in mind the two different problems that each man was addressing.
Paul was writing to those who taught that we must add our works to faith in Christ in order to be justified. He stated plainly that to do so was to preach a false gospel and to put oneself under condemnation (
Gal. 1:6-9). James, however, was writing to those who claimed that they had saving faith, but their lives did not show it. Their profession of faith was mere words, with no evidence of a changed life.

James's Central Concern: Faith That Works
James 2 Commentary - James's Central Concern: Faith That Works - BibleGateway.com
The works James requires are not done apart from faith but done in faith, not done instead of faith but done because of faith. Faith is the underlying stance of Christian life; deeds are the way of life; becoming mature and complete is the goal of Christian life. James cannot be charged with opposing deeds to faith, since he does not say, "I will show you deeds instead of faith." Rather, he contends for a showing of both faith and deeds:
I will show you my faith by what I do. He does not object to faith; he objects only to faith not accompanied by action. Simply stated, he wants Christians to have faith that works.
There is dead faith and alive Faith ------and That is what James is addressing -----
