I sense disapproval

I was down on the project from the start. Jackson overdoes things (his King Kong, while good, would have been 10x better with about 45 minutes to an hour cut out) and The Hobbit does not need to be overdone. Rankin & Bass' TV adaptation from the seventies got it about right, even if a few things (like Beorn) got lost along the way.

100 Foot Journey - yes, delicious!
Mom's Night Out - looking into it... 47 people ahead of me in line for it at the library!
Philomena - yes, well done
The Giver - nervous to see this one since the books are so beloved
Hobbit - just rewatched the second one yesterday with a family member who missed it in theatres last year. It draaaaags. Tolkien isn't really my thing, though.

Recently saw Unifinished Song (at Pinga's suggestion on another thread) which was a bit of heartwarming fun.

Oh yes Hilary - I also enjoyed Unfinished Song ... such a terrific cast!

Absolutely agree with your assessment of the Jackson 'Hobbit' Trilogy. I'm hanging on to the disapproving end, though, as over the years, it's become something of a family Xmas tradition to watch Jackson manipulate Orcs around New Zealand.

Another to add to your Do Not Watch List is "My Old Lady" with Maggie Smith. Not one of her best, unfortunately, and I do love her so. Fell asleep.

saw the 1968 Mel Brooks "The Producers" the other night starring Gene Wilder & Zero Mostel -- its a H O O T -- as brilliant as Blazing Saddles for me

those jews continue to do good work, showing us worriers (and they, along with Catholics, have a lockdown on worry) to cheer up, life is a cockup, so keep laughing (y)

Brooks is a brilliant comedian. His work got a bit more uneven in the eighties, but his early stuff stands up very well (Young Frankenstein is my fave but I'm a fan of the Universal horror movies that he was sending up in it so that's probably personal bias kicking in).

Last night I saw The Lunchbox at our library's Foreign Film Festival. It's about an unlikely friendship that emerges when a hot lunch is delivered to the wrong recipient at an office building in India. It's subtitled in its entirety, but the spoken languages are both English and Hindi.
It was so great!

Every year since I was even yes old, I've gone to see a movie for my birthday. Smell of them were a lot better than others were, Lt me address you. Now at age fifty, I feel it might be a fun challenge to collect the McKenzie parts from all those films. Would any of you like to help me do that by giving me a sable can anthem?

Do you know where else you can see a nice lunchbox Horton? At your McLean Something street!

Jae - this does not make sense - I'm a little worried about you lately, as more and more of your posts seem nonsensical - hoping you are okay.

Thank you for your concern Fella, but I am fine. I just have some struggles posting hanging my Windows Phone because of its auto doll function. Stenberg tungsten is, that should make posting more easy, but it doesn't. It sometimes changes the wed I want to print den, sometimes suggests a Wed. three qtr decent tune what I want to say, and sometimes can't even have the wed I want to use in its dictionary. I think Roly I should give up using it just PST using my laptop.

And I second the motion; phone-posted posts are so nonsensical that there was exactly 0 point if your intent was to communicate.

Tried watching the 1980 Flash Gordon again (it`s on Netflix) but didn`t make it through. It`s a deliberately campy adaptation of the comic strip with seriously hammy performances from two veteran actors (Max Von Sydow and Topol) and rather wooden performances from everyone else. Fun, cheesy time-waster that I can enjoy in the right mood (I did enjoy seeing it in the theatre when it came out) but not much more.
