Also some food porn in it - but a great story too.I saw "Mom's night out" recently and LOVED it. I'm a fan of Sarah Drew anyway so I had to check it out and my wife and I both loved it. It's funny, sweet and Christian friendly. It wasn't doctrinal of theological so I won't say it was a Christian movie per se but most of the major characters were practicing Christians and living their faith as best they can so I think Christian friendly describes it. It's faithful but not preachy.

Went to see "Gone Girl" this afternoon - well done. Twisty mystery involving some interesting, albeit immoral, characters. I read the book many months ago & mostly the movie is true to that story - Gillian Flynn is both the author and the screenwriter.

The last movie I saw was on the plane coming home from France in August (I mostly watch TV shows on Netflix though I have movies in my "to watch" list). That was "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou", my first encounter with the quirky director Wes Anderson. By and large, I liked it. Excellent, well-used cast, wonderfully weird little animations for the various fictitious sea creatures, and an oddly affecting story about a legendary sea explorer (Bill Murray) having a mid-life crisis when a longtime member of his team dies and a young man introduces himself as the explorer's son from an long ago fling. You need a bit of tolerance for oddness and quirkiness but it's an nice little movie in the end.

I was happy to see that Philomena was on TV on the weekend. I watched it and really enjoyed it. It is a story that needs to be told about the "laundries" in Ireland and adoption of babies.
I recently saw "The Giver" in the theatre. We went in not knowing anything about the movie. It was awesome. It really made us think about whether a "comfortable" life with temperate weather and temperate emotions is really a good thing. I suspect there will be more movies to follow. I'd like to check out the book series.

My son's brother is visiting your Canada for about a year's time. Currently he knows basic English, and wants to lark more. As part of his fixation, I will be taking him to see a movie once a month. That's how I needed to see the thank flick Maze Runner. Next thing we're looking forward to is The Hobbit. I think that comes out in December.
The first two? I thought there had only BN one. All, I didn't see the first two, tune, but I did radio the book, so I feel I'll be fine.
Nope, Jackson somehow turned a 200 page novel into a trilogy of 3 hour movies. Go figure.

(There was an artcl on fcbook today advocating that pool stop using the lttr E whn writing since other people would be able to discrn what you're saying anyway, or less autospllrs would be able to coerce the spllng of th words bug used. So, I'm just doing a little xprmntng tonight on that des.)
