On the last possible day - the Carney government has appealed the Federal Court of Appeal’s decision
finding the invocation of the Emergencies Act unlawful and unreasonable - to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Good. That's the court of final arbitration and can put the matter to rest constitutionally. Looking forward to the ruling.

Why we have the expression: "there's no end to the thing as laid out" ... tis a plot of lies from day one of when the tree tried to rise through the stuff ... implication is ineffable in this dominion ...

Is there anything more distraught that the Book of Judges? The word says even they had folly ... someone declared it was time to get out ... thus that emptying phenomena ... implications of when POT-is overheated? Melt-down ...

Two levels of court agreed with the Canadian Constitution Foundation's position that this law was used unlawfully and the regulations were unconstitutional.

What the Trudeau government did with the Emergencies Act was wrong.

And in filing for an appeal Mark Carney is doubling down on that mistake.

Carney could have let sleeping dogs lie.

Carney's "new" government faced no consequences for merely violating the Constitution.

The appeal creates a constitutional problem.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Richard Wagner publicly condemned the Freedom Convoy protests in April 2022.

"The beginning of anarchy where some people have decided to take other citizens hostage.”

"Such protests must be denounced with force by all the figures of power in the country."

He characterized protesters as “remotely guided” people with “a certain ignorance” of the rule of law.

What does Carney gain by airing it all again in light of Wagner's awkward position?

Speaking publicly in an inflammatory manner while already on the Supreme Court brought the court into disrepute.

Wagner should recuse himself?

The problem is that without a Supreme Court ruling, the government could always do it again and when someone tosses the lower court rulings at them, they can take to the Supremes then. Only the Supreme Court upholding those lower court rulings can truly put an end to it or force the government to repeal or redo the act. So I disagree. Letting sleeping dogs lie is not a solution here if we don't want to go through this again.

I also think Trudeau erred in not appealing the Quebec MAID ruling to the Supremes instead of trying to revise the law based on the lower court ruling. It's something that is important enough to merit a top court ruling before action is taken.

Good to know.

Canada’s euthanasia regime was set in motion by judicial fiat, not democratically elected legislatures.

Ten years later, it is fitting legislatures are reclaiming their rightful role and having their say.

Since the Supreme Court of Canada read a right to death into the Charter’s guarantee of ‘life, liberty, and security of the person’, Canada’s euthanasia and assisted suicide regime has grown to be one of the most permissive in the world.

It is now the 5th leading cause of death, with the cumulative total set to surpass a world-leading 100,000 this year.

According to statisticCanada:
Top 10 Leading Causes of Death in Canada (2024-2025 Trends)
  1. Cancer (Malignant Neoplasms): The leading cause since the 1990s, responsible for over 25% of all deaths.
  2. Diseases of the Heart: The second leading cause, including ischemic heart disease.
  3. Accidents (Unintentional Injuries)
    :

Including motor vehicle accidents and accidental poisoning.
    • Cerebrovascular Diseases (Stroke): Responsible for a significant portion of deaths, particularly in older adults.
    • Chronic Lower Respiratory Diseases: Such as COPD and asthma.
    • Influenza and Pneumonia: Saw a significant increase in 2024 to become a top cause.
    • Diabetes Mellitus: High prevalence causing significant mortality.
    • Alzheimer’s Disease: A leading cause of death, especially among women.
    • COVID-19: Mortality has declined by over 60% since 2022, but it remains in the top 10.
    • Chronic Liver Disease and Cirrhosis: A consistent top 10 cause of death.
      Statistique Canada
      Statistique Canada +4
As of early 2026, data indicates that 16,499 Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) provisions were reported in Canada in 2024, accounting for 5.1%
Considering that cancer is the #1 of cause of death, that does make sense, doesn’t it.

Should right to choice be thus limited regarding life and the alternate?

Like "stop the world I want to get off" would fit into the Streetcar Named Desire! In one legality there is no choice because of great fear of knowing the vast unknown ... the great darkness, or infinite rest is disrupted ... emotions steamroll the populace.

Now that seems more of corruption that standing down and thinking of it. Sort of fits with the Semitic word for wisdom resembling "death"! Tis a love to die for if you really want to know extensive things ...

Thus it incarnates that there are things beyond our control ... albeit, regardless of the perspective of bullies and willies ... some don't have one and just are. That's being ...

Canada faces chronic underfunding and shortages in palliative care, mental health, disability supports, and home care.
Cases (documented in reviews and media) involve patients denied hospice beds, facing caregiver burnout, or
turning to MAiD amid perceived lack of alternatives.
Advocacy groups and physicians warn this can make MAiD seem like the "option of least resistance"
rather than a truly autonomous choice after maximized palliative efforts.

So sure if you want to make sense out of a failing health system you can certainly do so can't you.

5.1% Rita, ….5.1% of all deaths. Not of all Canadians.

I have had two of my friends use MAID, one of them with ALS, one a 95 year old with end stage ovarian cancer. I have another friend, with brain cancer, considering it.

Alberta introduced a bill restricting MAiD to cases where natural death is reasonably foreseeable within one-year.

Danielle Smith is leading the country in Common Sense.

Hardly. The original legislation was the same common sense. It was the Quebec court that blew it up.

If Bill 18 passes, Alberta will be the first to meaningfully narrow access provincially.

What is more common: emotions or intellect?

If one takes a stand with an emotional lot, does the idea of mental process lose? With in goes sustainable:
  1. Food
  2. Shelter
  3. Clothing
  4. Education
  5. Health
  6. Care
  7. With the loss of care for self and health of the matter ... does a light come on in a dark place?
In Hebrew that is a special icon that wanders like a co Brae ... 2's niches in the dirt ... ro' elle pair? Sight (either lost or gained) unseen of the beauty of nothing ... i.e. with nothing to inhibit the road is clear ...

It is a metaphor, that if you ditch the conscience, right and wrong becomes unrecognizable. This mode of sense falls upon us in the heat of the night. Perhaps the reason that sometimes great enigmas are solved when sleeping as your soul takes a trip out of the emotional pith were in ...

This may also explain why they say you fall in love if you didn't have some prior touch of the elusive wraith ... that's Sur as a maturing complaint ...

Ain't that a bitch 've story to stack it up? Is it a mule, donkey, or Satyr that rides among us ... your choice? Furthermore in an emotional state you cannot distribute pure intelligence the folk blinded by emotion need a cutting story ... that's the edge ... writ (alas encompassed by emotional storms in the dark) --- some PET)!

Stroke it again Sam ...

Some weird sense carried by alien icons ... that's the word!

We don't wish to know of it and thus the great unknow 'n ... nun being a word said to carry little but the sound of "O" ... similar to "!" being upended ... incarnating as a point made on a stick, rod, shaft or other means of measure ... thus lodged! Means of inquiry? Thus we sit on it a bit ... like the debade over Call Centers for Service ... a po' vocation if you've noted. CBC declares they are there to put off work that was required to correct delinquencies in the initial function... something went? O'Dear; it departed ...

"What?" The common thing and thus life is a rare case ... very thin and delicate ... incidents happen when it is put to bad use, unknowingly!

It is wise to read-up on such strange cycles ...
