Tumbler Ridge mass shooting: What we know about the victims

Among the victims found in Tumbler Ridge Secondary School were five youths and a 39-year-old educator, Shannda Aviugana-Durand.

I can also say, to jive with how I have seen us typically react when this happens in the USA, we complain aboot the Gun Culture there, the bad culture in general so as a palliative: what is it with Canadians and their love of guns? Sheesh...*writes War and Peace level of commentary aboot bad laws, bad people, sin...*

Another angle: us trannies ARE dangerous. We are here to BREAK THE WORLD. Break the uber materialist-physicalist Naturalist Corporate Capitalist World that is oh so popular (these are the EEVIL GLOBALISTS) lol

Another angle: anyone can make any connection with anything and then communicate aboot it. Not all worldviews share the same connections or truth claims.

There are trans people and allies that seem to be organizing around violence in USA. Similar to the Jane's Revenge cult who were going after anti abortion peeps and places not that long ago

Higher Vibrations: Mental Health is a real issue (in this case which exists in the above mentioned worldview). People are responsible for their actions not their beliefs or thoughts. Some thoughts are people and thus have agency.
All worldviews are visible now. When before we could hide them or not pay attention to them. Welcome to an openly Psychedelic world.

The Worldview of CSJ where certain identities are to be held above others as needing more attention but all are not without sin is past its peak and, unfortunately, is dealing with the actual harming Worldviews and the Backlash of "normies", so there is spillover. Trump himself seems to be intentionally targeting CSJ and dismantling it in the USA. And the spillover into innocents, people who just want to live their lives.

Ahem.

I do not spend time intentionally (or rather moderate my time and set firmer boundaries) with some of my LGBTetc comerades that have severe mental issues. For my own well being

The Supreme Court of Canada ANNULS the result in the Terrebonne riding from the 2025 federal election.

Mark Carney is down yet another MP, and a by-election in Terrebonne must be called within the next six months.
 
The politicians' presence at the vigil is not just performative, but actively disrespectful and predatory IMO.

Showing up to grieve publicly while bearing significant responsibility for the systemic failures enabling this tragedy in the 1st place.

The shooter, (Jesse) accessed the firearms despite a documented history of severe mental health crises, multiple police visits to the home (including Mental Health Act apprehensions), substance issues, and prior firearm seizures.
  • Police seized guns from the family home "a couple of years ago" under the Criminal Code, but the lawful owner (not specified, but not the shooter) successfully petitioned a court or process to have them returned.
  • The two weapons used (a long gun and modified handgun) weren't registered to Jesse whose minor's firearms license expired in 2024.
  • Canada's "red flag" provisions (expanded in recent years) allow temporary firearm prohibitions for at-risk individuals, yet here guns were returned to the household despite repeated mental health/red-flag-level concerns.
  • Mental health system interactions didn't prevent escalation, and rural/northern BC services are chronically underfunded.
  • The shooter's online footprint (fascination with weapons/violence, substance abuse) adds to calls for better intervention upstream.
Ottawa figures, far removed from the small town reality of Tumbler Ridge's economic struggles, isolation, limited health services flying in en masse, cameras rolling, projecting "unity"-- strikes me as the height of elitism.

Apparently the town's mayor invited Carney and he invited two people and so on.

Predatory privilege -- crashing family's/private community's rawest moment to polish their image while the policies they shaped (or failed to fix) contributed to the carnage.

Classic "thoughts and prayers" critique amplified:

Show up for the photo in a town that's one big family - as the town mayor keeps saying - where grief is intimate.

New(s) political theatre for the national public viewing.

You shoulda seen it in the Olde Days, when things were more wild west...most of the internet now is very...corporate, officespacey? as businesses have had to adapt to a larger audience. I remember when those AOL discs came oot; in the wild west days, you had to be a techy geek to use a computer...now pretty much anyone can, so a wider range of human being

So yeah, one can find a wide assortment of words. Even find the ones that one is expecting. And even find ones that one likes. And even the unexpected.

One of my dad's brothers wrote me aboot the incident and wanted me to know he was thinking of me. He is a sweet guy.

I read about those weapons being returned- since there were only two people in the household, I am guessing it was the mother wanting those back. Should there be a law to not allow weapons in a household with someone with mental health issues? I wouldn’t mind that, but there would likely be a lot of people who would see their rights trampled on. I mean clearly, that was a dysfunctional family. Why would the mother even want weapons in the house with a kid like that. With moving around frequently and needing to have a court order to stay in one place, for the sake of the kids, her choices weren’t the best. I don’t know if any outside MH agency would ever be able to make up for that. We seem to believe that everything is fixable. That might be the case with broken legs. MH is a different story.

That's excessive imbalance! God had to put it somewhere ... contained by dark forces ... thus the gravity of it! Mysterious affiliation ... we can not help our selves ... due to complexity in the mix!

The mother had an interest in guns and taking Jesse Strang to the shooting range.

Strang had dropped out of school quite young. Did they have friends/ foes?

Biological father expressed sorrow publicly, but said he was not part of his child’s life and sounds like, never had been. Referred to the shooter as “he”, and “my son”, despite knowing that they were trans.

Jesse Strang shot and killed his 11 year old step-brother. Who is that boy’s father, if he was an actual step father who cared about his partner’s kids as family? He’d be in the picture somewhere, so where is he? I don’t remember reading about comments from him.

Just wondering about these factors, put together.

It’s all so sad.
