See, now that's entertainment and rightly so. Stuff that happens outside the House that is intended to buff the PM's image or the country's can, by all means, be entertainment. The PM hitching onto the most popular show to come out of Canada since Schitt's Creek makes sense. But that's not Question Period, which should be time for actual questions and discussion of public business, not entertainment. Did he skip Question Period for this photo op? Or was he already out of the House on other business and this fit in his itinerary?

Good on him. Having the premiers in the loop from the start is a good approach to help get buy-in with whatever comes out of it.

Right now, I suspect Poilievre is upping his game and trying to put on a good show because of the upcoming leadership review, though all evidence is that he will survive it barring some last minute push to oust him.
Pierre Poilievre facing a “leadership review,” is not nearly as dramatic as the media is making it out to be.

Is it not just a vote where party members decide whether to keep the leader after an election loss?

Poilievre didn’t “lose badly” if under his leadership conservatives increased their seat count and share of the popular vote to over 41 percent.

Poilievre, if I hear him correctly, says that inflation is crushing families today, and cannot be managed by academic jargon. He talks about productivity, wages, and cost of living like someone who understands that people are tapped out. That resonates with me because IMO politics should be about fixing what is broken now not breaking things now to manage future model projections.

Mark Carney's future-facing focus on climate models, global frameworks, long horizon risks conveniently benefits people who are already winning not those worried about making rent, affording groceries, or helping your kids ever own a home.

The tomorrow problems of future-focused policies tend to line the pockets of the same consultants, funds, and institutions Carney has spent his career around. That doesn’t make him evil - it does make him disconnected.

That said, I have no vested interest in supporting any party or leader of any party in Canada.

If I did have a vote to give it would be a yes to Alberta Independence.

Is this not just an expression of balance that is needed to avoid burn-up? How ever ...

Why? Washington DC is even further than Ottawa. Trump will give Albertans their same pension as they get under Canada?
Will Trump give enough disaster money to put out forest fires or just throw towels or turn on a bigly tap? You'd be willing to give up your right to vote if he becomes a dictator? You want to pay for your healthcare? Lots of questions, do separatists even know whats been promised if they separate and at the same time realize that Trump's campaign promises have not been kept.....
Dictatorships seem to be the height of losing ones Freedom IMO.
I don't really know what promises he's made.....what are they?

The referendum question central to the independence movement and related discussions, is:

“Do you agree that the Province of Alberta
should cease to be a part of Canada
to become an independent state?”

This is a yes/no question on full sovereignty/independence, not on becoming a U.S. state.

IF I had a vote to give - it would be a Yes - IF I had a vote to give.

The process draws from the 1998 Supreme Court of Canada Reference re Secession of Quebec, where a clear majority on a clear question would obligate negotiations.

To trigger an actual province-wide referendum (potentially in fall 2026 or later), the petition needs at least 177,732 valid signatures (10% of votes cast in the 2023 provincial election).

No referendum has been scheduled yet—it's contingent on the petition succeeding.

Also:
  • U.S. State Department officials have ruled out Alberta's statehood due to insurmountable Senate politics, where a conservative-leaning Alberta would require simultaneous admission of Democratic-leaning territories like Puerto Rico for balance, a non-starter for Republicans.
  • Discussions with U.S. officials, center on Alberta's independence as a sovereign nation, driven by shared interests in countering Chinese influence over its oil resources and enabling U.S.-backed economic tools like a $500 billion credit line collateralized by energy assets.
  • Data indicate overwhelming preference for full independence among Albertans with emphasis on sovereignty over annexation.

No questions allowed ... or so I was told because of all that he knows ...

If one needs to be extremely individuated ... why would one mess with social systems?

Only to be the brute? So many questions ... so few answers ... why?

Could it be based on what we don't know? Oh Mariah ... ponder that ...
