I guess it's telling that we on planet earth can't agree on such a simple matter. We will still have confusion if some parts of the world stay on DST permanently and others switch back to standard time.
It makes Snoopy's brain hurt. But at least Snoopy gets to be LAST while making this comment.
Jae kind of responded to P3's post already. It's not a matter of the world. There are large swaths of the planet that don't do time changes. China is another, bigger, one (China also doesn't do time zones internally). As long as we maintain some kind of consistency with what the US is doing and keep things consistent internally, I wouldn't worry about the rest of the world.Absolutely agree and... we don't do it here in Korea. As someone who has business meetings and calls with people in the US, I have to disagree. We need to be consistent with them. I have regular meetings with people in the US Mid-West (ie. Central Time) and it's bad enough having them one hour behind, without having another hour due to Canada playing by different rules. Basically, any given location in the US should be on the same time as Canadian locations in the same time zone. We are close now save for oddities like Saskatchewan and Arizona that don't do DST.It would be a very nice symbolic break from the US if Canada reverted to Standard Time always![]()
Possible, but inconvenient. I already have people in Central forgetting about the time difference and trying to book meetings at times that don't work here. This would mean expecting literally all Americans to be aware that all of Canada is different from them, even the same time zone. I think there are better ways to assert our sovereignty. The whole point of standard time when Fleming created it was to get rid of stupid little local variations that were screwing with the train schedules. And, yet, we still have stupid little local variations. In my perfect world, there would one consistent time zone system across the Americas. Global would be nice but there's enough distance between us and Eurasia/Africa that I am less fussed about their time zone system. Europe, at least, seems to be pretty consistent but maybe the EU manages it rather than individual countries."We are close now save for oddities like Saskatchewan and Arizona that don't do DST."
And it is still possible to do business with SK and AZ so it would be possible if Canada was all on Standard time
anything is workableImagine being three hours out of sync with some work partners. It's inconvenient but workable.
