I'm --- so --- hungry. 1300 calories is :) all I give myself each day. The result? In just five weeks time... I'll still be obese.
Here's a sample of my diet. This is what I ate today...

Breakfast -
- medium Timmys cafe mocha (hold the whipped topping).
- packet of instant raisin oatmeal
- 1/2 cup skim milk

Lunch -
- Jumbo hotdog with a teaspoon of yellow mustard

Supper -
- 1.5 cups of Kraft Dinner
- 1 cup green salad (no dressing)
- 1/9 cup chocolate chip ice cream
- Centrum Silver vitamin

Snacks -
- cup of coffee with skim milk

I would be hungry too if that's what I ate. Jae, why not go for some things that are lower in calories that are more filling? The oatmeal was a good start.

Thanks ChemGal, and You. My Yobo keeps telling me that what I need to do is to increase the amount of fruit and vegetables that I eat . She's probably right. I've never been a big fan of that kind of stuff though. My favorite vegetable is glistening golden french fries smothered in mayonnaise (washed down with a bubbly refreshing glass of sodapop).

I eat very little, and my weight hasn't changed in years. Damn! Of course, I do have an addiction problem with hoofprints frozen yogurt.
BethAnne, tell us about your bed, not about the internal workings of your digestive system.

Jae...The secret is not to starve yourself but to eliminate the foods your body doesn't digest properly.

Graeme...I knew you really wanted to know and are probably bent out of shape that you haven't guessed what size it is.

Start with the ones you do enjoy and branch out from there. Chemguy used to be fairly anti-veggie, that changed as he retried things. Test out some seasonings too. I loved BBQed sweet bell peppers with some lemon pepper.

Often, you get more nutrients from vegetables with a bit of fat. A bit of oil, or some avocado or cheese in a salad is nice and I love vinegar, especially balsamic.

Weight does fluctuate a bit, even when on a weight loss journey. Don't let short term fluctuations get you down, look at the overall trend. Don't be afraid to reassess though.

Is there a particular reason you stuck with the number of calories you have?

Thanks ChemGal for the tips. The caloric intake was determined by MyFitnessPal once I entered my height, weight, gender, lifestyle, and that I wanted to lose 2 pounds per week.

So... that would be... junk food BethAnne? Pizza, Southern fried chicken, hot diggity dogs, and hamburglars?
You may have to get tested for food allergies/intolerances or you can tell - if you pay attention - what foods make you feel sick/sluggish after you eat them. Excess weight is not so much a sign that you are eating too much as that you are eating something your body can't digest properly and it just stores it as fat.

It could be anything - for some people it is wheat, for others it is dairy, for me it is veggies.

Thanks BethAnne, but for me, really, it is eating too much junk food. One of the side effects of the medicine I'm on for epilepsy is weight gain. I just about always feel hungry. The easiest, quickest, tastiest way to deal with that hunger is the mass consumption of processed and junk foods.

Is there any evidence for that? I don't see how something can be stored as fat if it's not first digested.

I mean digested properly for usage by the body...it is digested, however the body treats it as a toxin and not a nutrient so rather than used by the body, it is stored.

Ah, yes, side effects from medicines do create a whole different situation to work with.

No hot dogs. Eat chicken.
an orange for breakfast and supper.
Don't ask BethAnne about her bed.
I'll leave you to deal with BethAnne's bed Graeme. Now, as to the hot diggity dogs, maybe I could switch over to chicken weiners - thanks for the idea . Oranges are good. I prefer ugly fruit.
