A real man is above these things. I have a responsibility to do what's best for all of you. It's a heavy responsibility, of course. But such is the role of man. I accept it with all modesty and humility. Mine the responsibility to think for you; and yours the responsibility to do the mindless chores.

My thoughts go out to the folks in the lower half of Alberta. Stay cool friends. I'm thankful it seems to be more temperate in these parts.

Just back from the US Southwest (mostly the deserts of southern Utah). 43 when we reached Vegas the other day and we were often out in the desert in the high 30s in Utah. Really too hot for my taste, but I still tolerated it. Saving grace was the lack of humidity. If there'd been a humidex, I would have been hunkering down somewhere with AC.

Where is he these days anyway?

London right now but leaving again on Friday. My itinerary for the past week and a bit was basically the US National Parks across Southern Utah: Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches, Canyonlands, Zion plus a swing into the Navajo lands in Northern Arizona to see Monument Valley and Lower Antelope Canyon.

My itinerary going forward is simpler: move Little M to his residence at U of O.

At LAST we are getting some cooler weather in NB so I don't have to run the air conditioner. Today is in the low 20s, with a slight overcast. Tomorrow is predicted to go to 26 - a bit hot for me. Seelerman is working outside, building a small wooden deck and steps by our front door - over the concrete steps that are gradually sinking and no longer safe. We didn't get a permit as we consider this maintenance rather than alteration. I hope that the city sees it that way too.

In our city, which is quite fussy, a wooden box over existing concrete stairs, as long as it isn't fastened to the house, is cool. Didn't have to get a permit for my front porch. (This was done by one of the fussier of my sub-contractors who would have applied for a permit were it necessary; I've had more dicey stuff done, permit-wise...) Yes, starting to feel more like fall at LAST. Darker in the mornings when I get up to take Lucy to the beach.

Sorry, no, I meant where is AC?

I've been wondering that myself. The metaphorical weather has been clearer, but somewhat less entertaining. He may finally have given up in the face of RevJohn's persistent efforts to clarify his beliefs and their logical conclusions.
