Air has been fresh and dampish here all summer. Wish I had a sense of smell left to enjoy it.

Pleasantly busy day here. DCM appointment from 10-11, which, although it leaves me looking spotty, leaves me feeling well. Then a picnic with some of our refugee team and our family and some of their friends. Now, it got rained out, like everything else this summer, but we convened in our church hall instead, the kids ran around and got fussed over. Adults got to visit, drink tea and coffee, compare favourite dishes. I had some of Hind's stuffed grape leaves, which are to die for, and a nicely spiced lamb and potato dish, and lots of salads, and Jack's cheesecake with homemade strawberry sauce for dessert. My fried chicken was a hit. Then I dashed home, fed Lucy, then out to our film club movie at 7 with a couple of old friends, "Alone in Berlin". Can't recommend it enough. Quietly really emotional. Beautifully done.

LAST; should have been in bed by now; Lucy and I have a date at the lake at 6 a.m. tomorrow.

I enjoyed getting out today. Nice air quality, mosquitos started to get a bit too active when I got out to finish some stuff after dinner though. It sounds like the smoke is going to be on and off, so not sure when it will be alright for me to get out again. I think tomorrow it's supposed to be bad again.

I'm glad tomorrow is Friday. This is our folk festival weekend. The second annual. Last year was great so we're looking forward to this one.

The city has been twinning the major road near us. That meant building a new bridge last year. They basically worked 9-5 Monday to Friday last year so of course it didn't get done. It made no sense to do it that way considering our short season with long days. They could have easily worked until almost 11 at night without artificial light. So this year, the work continued. They closed the major intersection leading out of this subdivision in May without telling the school bus operators or anyone. The end of the school year was a gong show. Now after these long months we got notice they are opening the intersection at LAST!!!!! YAY.

Fore, or ante sight is sadly lacking today as we have few respects for things learned ... way back ... when? That time factor is just not seen ... in the dark night of de λ sol! Crippled by outside forces ... as Ahab was ... with love of unknowns ...

Mun ici pa lities can do that ...

We just went through two years of construction on the main route I take to work. Finally finished earlier this summer. It was badly needed, but what a pain. And I couldn't re-route, either, because Little M's high school was just off that route and I was driving him in on my way.

This construction is also badly needed. I can reroute but then there is major construction downtown and my reroute can take me past that. It has been an opportunity to just let it be and chill. As much as possible. The fixed roads will be a huge improvement and hopefully worth it.
