Originally it was the chuckwagons (ie food wagons) racing each other at the end of the trail ride...then it evolved to a race between wagons - the driver (cook) and helpers (outriders) had to light the stove, boil water, put out the stove and load it into the wagon before taking off on the race...now the "stove" is symbolic and it is just a race.

Last few hours of a lovely 3 day weekend. Rain forecast all week so may end up on transit instead of biking into work. Or maybe I'll chance it, will see in the morning.
