According to the Ford service guy the battery is on the driver's side but they have "protected" (read: hidden) it with a plastic cover which has to come off first.

Scary drive to Red Deer as the snow was blowing and drifting heavily...if I hadn't needed groceries I'd have stayed home.

I lived six or seven years in a log cabin on a lake in the Laurentians north of Montreal. The nearest town was a half hour. My drive to teach in Montreal was over an hour. I loved the cabin and the lake and the forest. But, oh, I wouldn't go for that remoteness again.

I remember Beloved posting about her hours of travel for medical appointments ... she lived in Flin Flon I think. I would not LAST in such a situation!
Speaking of remote - anybody watch Kevin McLeod's series Escape to the Wild? He visits ex-pat Brits who have relocated to remote locations. I just watched one on a family of 5 who lived all alone on a remote island in Tonga, south Pacific. Fascinating.

One nice thing about living in the city is I can walk to a close by grocery store. The downside is traffic...took 95 minutes to get home from work on transit today. In summer a little over 30 minutes when I commute on my bicycle.

I can walk to quite a few places from my house. Even the mall but that takes an hour so I don't do it very often. The LAST time I walked to Scarborough Town Centre was before I retired.

Very small village, then. Here in Ontario, they've lost their banks, post offices and even their convenience stores, unless they're on a corner with a gas station.

We have a restaurant with gas station on the highway 5 blocks away from my house...liquor store 4 blocks away...hardware 6 blocks away...antique store 7 blocks away...private Christian school across the street - used to be public school but was closed a handful of years ago due to low enrollment.

Technically, we're a hamlet - lost village status...population is roughly 350 including the various stray dogs and cats.

I can walk to groceries, the bank, pharmacy, without snow I sometimes bike to church. I do usually do groceries by car thogh as with my hockey billets a good amount of food is bought.
