LAST as the deep freeze moves in...good thing I don't have to go anywhere this week...I don't seem to handle the cold the way I used to.

I don't think any of us handle it as well as we used to, BethAnne, sounds like a good time to stay in and make some hot chocolate.

We're hovering around or just below 0 right now but are supposed to warm up for Sat. and Sun. Little M won't be happy. The local ski hill was starting to make snow after last week's snow but the warmer weather and rain has likely messed up that plan.

exceLlent time in school todAy, learning about collaborative theological reflection. now have a meeting with my SpiriTual director :)

Time-honoured tradition, BA. When I was editing the church newsletter, there were always a couple I had to chase down (usually the minister and president , neither of which I could go to press without).

Yes, that is usually the way it goes. People seem to think I have all the time in the world to put this paper together and can't seem to understand that I have a deadline too.

Mom has developed a nasty cough that is getting worse - she seems to be shrivelling up more and more too.

Vibes for your mother, BA. Get it checked to make sure it isn't an infection.
Thanks Mendalla...all part and parcel of her body shutting down as it has been for years - sometimes it progresses fast and sometimes it slows right down.

In 1996 mom had an allergic reaction to an anti-inflammatory drug and went into shock...she almost died but they were able to flush her system out. Unfortunately, as a result of the reaction, her internal organs were all severely damaged and she was left with about 25% function in them...the damage has not healed and continues to spread as the organs never get a chance to rest like you can give a broken arm a chance to rest and heal. She's down to a very minute percentage of her organs actually functioning as they should. She's managed to defy the odds and is still alive but it is touch and go.

How sad, BethAnne. I wish death was always fast and merciful. My Mom had a stroke, from which she never recovered, but just seemed to slowly fade away (took five years). She often asked why God had not just taken her then, instead of making her wait so long, so helpless.

Apparently, I'm the LAST one to shift my mood into an alert, cheerful work mode...

We worried about Dad fading out like that but, as you know, it went differently in the end and I'm kind of glad it went that way, even if I miss him and am still shocked at how fast he went down (from walking in the park with me to bedridden invalid on his last legs in three weeks).
