Yes, the world is already in a war. I can’t give a like to that even though it’s true - we can’t snap our fingers and change it.We may see England, Canada, and more European countries coming together to put boots on the ground in Ukraine.

Meaning, I wish nobody felt a necessity to put boots on the ground in the first place, but that’s not the reality right now.
I keep wondering why Trump is pissing everyone one off in America and abroad, almost on purpose.Yes, the world is already in a war. I can’t give a like to that even though it’s true - we can’t snap our fingers and change it.

I was thinking that......"We" are being played. "We" should be careful, deliberate and intentional in our responses.
I also reccommend Buy Nothing Day, a yearly commemmoration to buy nothing, created by Vancouverite Adbusters, a brilliant little zine dedicated to living better
Except how will it hit the small business owners? It’s been suggested that we buy local, as part of the response to the US tariffs. If people are already doing that more and more, this just hits those businesses that are helping us (and I’ve been hearing of businesses paying exorbitant rents, doubling in a year, because there are no rent controls, no tenancy dispute regulators for them.) It’s not a nice gesture toward them, and could be one extra slow day too many, that means they go out of business. And when small businesses go under it attracts more crime etc. And then the gentrifiers come in, there’s nowhere for more and more of the population to go, and things descend into chaos. All because of that day. It was different when we were only speaking to the 1% - the huge multinationals - but I think people are well aware of that problem now.I have a story to share about this. I moved back with my mother and my kids in the 2000s, because we were living in an apartment and Mom was not going to be able to cope with house on her own after my dad died as events had made very clear (no, Mom, you can't buy two new cars in 6 months because you don't like the first one you picked, lol).
My mother had a totally hysterical reaction to the "F bomb". My daughter was a pre-teen, and very quickly discovered that the fastest and easiest way to make my mother crazy was to use the word. I can't tell you how many times I said to my mother, "you are an adult, she is a child trying to wind you up, and you are buying it".
Trump or Putin or Musk or Vance have agendas. They say things totally deliberately to wind up their opponents, because upset people behave like 8-year olds. "We" are being played. "We" should be careful, deliberate and intentional in our responses.
Coming up February 28th? Buy nothing from no-one day. One day for North American retailers to see the effects of us all just walking away from them for the day. No in person purchases, no on-line orders. Retail silence.

Yeah. Even people who aren’t in that dire of circumstances - big families. I have friends who only shop at Walmart and Costco because their grocery bill is so high and they feel it makes a significant difference. I prefer not to (Walmart that is. Costco doesn’t make sense for one person but my roommate and I have occasionally split things) and thus, spend more on food already which is already frustrating (plus I pay more for premade deli foods that are quasi healthy and tasty but cheaper than a restaurant) because of my own mobility situation and home set up, but I’m trying to change some things). I try to shop at local grocery stores and have been reading labels more carefully. After a single buy nothing day, on the 28th, we change our shopping habits to support Canadian businesses, in particular, small local ones.
The problem I see is that there are so many humans living right on the edge of poverty, and an extra 10 or 20 cents on items will make them unaffordable.
