Oh. I see. So it's okay for us to be planning the destruction of the world, and meanwhile distributing wealth from the poor to the rich. And Jesus would have thought it a neat idea to starve the people of Yemen to death, and to sell armoured cars to murder them.

jae, read The Bible more carefully. The message of Jesus is not just about shouting hip! hip! hooray! for the Kingdom of God.
I feel the message of Jesus is about participation in the missio Dei - calling us to take part in God's great mission to redeem all of Creation.

I feel that as we do so we are to, "Yes, feast on all the treasures of the heavenly realm and fill your thoughts with heavenly realities, and not with the distractions of the natural realm." - Colossians 3:2 (TPT).

Great! that's a relief. So it's okay to prepare the planet for nuclear destruction and to starve the poor and all the rest of it.

Great. That cuts the whole message of Jesus down to a one-liner.

Not quite sure where you're picking this stuff up from Graeme. I'm not laying it down.

Since I believe we are called to participate in the redemption of the planet, I obviously value keeping the planet around. Since I believe in the redemption of all of Creation, I obviously value treating the poor well. Kindly recall thst I am a member of Canada's working poor.

The command is we are god's ... so we should act like gods and what do gods do best? Conflict!

Any other is the devil down by the river catching a flow of thoughts lost in war ... having taken high flight!

Tis sometimes resembles stuff out there ... Eire? Wild separations ...

Tis a metaphor of PTSD ... an after effect ... not well known by front men of confidence in God's word that mankind must die ... a self fulfilling prescience ...

Just keep it going ... tis po' ET IHC!

The first big (not all) Leaders' Debate is on CityTV tonight, and it should be a good one.

Kathleen Wynne is running scared, soon she may no longer be able to teach little children about sex. However, at least she isn't hacking up green phlegm.

Doug Ford has at this point some things to try and live down, but at least there's no videotape of him talking with Billy Bush.

Andrea Horwath has the best chance tonight of looking like a competant, intelligent leader. All she has to do is stand back and let the other two tear each other to shreds.

The problem is a huge one. The reality is that most Canadians have not the faintest idea of what political principles they believe in. Nor do they have much idea of what the issues and/or possibilities are. That's the fault of a lying press, and a pretty stunned public.

And nobody mentions what should be the biggest issue of all. Our wealthy don't pay ANY taxes. Every year, many billions of dollars of four money are stolen by the wealthy. In the U.S., it's over a trillion dollars a year. Among other things, this disappearance of so much money every year is going to bring our economies crashing.

Oh come on, we aren't THAT nutty. Are we?

Wanna bet ... considering what we know and say no to? Know that intelligence is evil ... tis associated with the forbidden tree of chaos ... there could be vipers there! Any monkey knows that ... and thus we are stumped by the flood of questions ... an answers coming out of nowhere ...

Could be the imagination working ... as an abstract some people say this is nothing ... gramps said it was love ... but you had to act on it to see how it turned out, over or up!

In the adequate time, place and situation ... can't beat it ... thus the commentary about love being gentile and kind like a good night's rest ...

Stop, listen to the silence and fall in ...

A break in cruel reality?

Thus we are torn by the demiurge ... to indulge in reality or Passover it ... eve end tulle ... like a hat but spelt different. You must know the phonetic avatars ...

You just don't know what will come out of a head covering ... could be hairy!

Congratulations to Andrea Horwath of the NDP for winning the first Ontario Leaders' Debate. Runner-up was PC Doug Ford. A distant third was Liberal Kathleen Wynne.

The NDP have by far the best leadership of the three big parties in Ontario. They seem incapable of translating that into electoral success though.

Well... there were the Bob Rae years.

I was thinking recently. Bob was either the best Liberal ever to lead the NDP or the best New Democrat to (temporarily) lead the Liberals depending on how you look at it. I wish he had stood for the federal Liberal leadership instead of taking the interim position but I think I get why he wouldn't.

Bob Rae got a raw deal as Premier. Took over just as a recession was about to hit. It wasn't his fault or the NDP's fault that a recession hit just as they took over, but they had to deal with it as an inexperienced government that had zero experience in governing. They made tough decisions that alienated their core support in the unions (remember the Social Contract and Rae Days) because they thought the decisions needed to be made for the province. They ran deficits - but so does everyone in a recession - including Conservatives. I can respect a party that puts what it perceives to be the best interests of the province over their own partisan interests. But somehow they've been tainted ever since. It's unfortunate. I have to confess that Andrea Horwath has never really stood out to me - but, yes, of the big three she's by leaps and bounds the best choice in this election.

How could I forget? I was a municipal civil servant (librarian) in those days so was caught up in it. I largely forgave him. As you say, he did what he thought he had to at great political risk.

The fact that the standout leader in this election is someone who really doesn't stand out says a lot about our current leadership.
