I'm thinking I'm middle.
to quote "Little River band" There are many paths up the mountain and the view from the top is all the same.

and yet for me I belong to a Christian church. I can easily recite the New Crees "I believe in God who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus the word made fleash to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by The Spirit" etc.

Hi...

Nice thinking through the question and comments. Found this by Parker Palmer:

"We need a coat with two pockets. In one pocket there is dust, and in the other pocket there is gold. We need a coat with two pockets to remind us who we are."

George

Can that be wrote on brain fabric ... the durum matter? Some say it is durable and goes on ... passed through the brain stem a divined DNA carrier needing a mate! Thus the up braiding ... coiled matter?

Thanks for the discussion. It's got me thinking.

It seems that I misunderstood a bit. I presumed that when talking about Christology a person would be a Christian and have some idea and belief in Jesus. It seems to be that if you didn't believe that Jesus even existed you wouldn't have low Christology but you wouldn't have any at all.

Also I misunderstood the phrase 'just some guy I know' as being 'just some guy I knew'.
Perhaps this is ssomehow related to my interpretation of the song 'What if God were One of Us ... ' I think of this as a plea for God to return to us as 'one of us', fully human, trying to make his (or her) way in the world. Low Christology.

@Seeler, you may appreciate the teachings and stories of Jesus, but, see them as a collection of stories of different people or never having occurred.

I would have an extremely low Christology. Have read the Pagan Christ. Not completely swayed by the argument, but my essential conclusion has been that the existence or non-existence of this possibly historical figure doesn't move any position I have. I'm vaguely inclined towards a real figure only because of the existence and testimony of James the Just, a very real, very respected Jewish figure who refers to his brother Jesus.

I view Jesus as a prophet and a Jewish mystic with a trove of interesting stories to unpack.
