My mom has a thing about ladders, and scaffoldings covering the sidewalk. I sort of do...maybe from her...but if it's raining I prefer to walk under them.

I used to have a superstition about crossing paths with black cats until we fostered the sweetest little black cat. And when I found out that in the west black cats are the most abandoned and abused house cats, because of superstition, it broke my heart. She was so friendly and cute. In Japan black cats are good luck.

That reminds me. Last week a little black cat was out at about 9 p.m. and followed me from near my bus stop - walked beside and around me, "talking" to me, right at my feet for a block! I kept stopping to pet him/ her and she wouldn't leave me alone! I almost tripped over her. I thought maybe she was lost and was a bit worried she'd get hit by a car. She was all black except for a bit of white on her front paws. She eventually went on her way but it was amusing.

If the kutia sticks to the ceiling it means good luck or a bountiful harvest for the upcoming year. Not that we ever tried it - I can't imagine my Grandma allowing her ceiling to be messed up like that!
