Fall - I didn't know it'd be so hard

Someone has started an app to get your snow shovelled in Winnipeg. They are short of shovellers. It would get you out with people.

I am not sure that we've ascertained that Giancarlo has a snow-shovelling type of back. I require copious use of painkillers and regular chiro appointments to cope with the amount that I do...

I have never shovelled snow before! I need to try it to see if I can handle!
Nevertheless I'm not sure I could do this through the app, as I still don't have my work permit (should have it by mid-January).

Pretty shovelling snow is not a big issue. Grab a shovel and stop by houses. Ask to help. Many seniors are stuck and can use the help

I love to shovel * though the days with with heavy wet snow are tough.

I don't know why it happened, but George and I failed to meet up when I crossed Canada and back again last fall. He might just have been retiring from his pastoral charge, or something; or we just missed each other, which is unfortunate, because George's early life seems to been quite similar to my son's path and I would have enjoyed hearing his stories. Glad you could meet up.

He told me his story but I feel like there are a million underlying stories and many, many meetings are needed to hear them all - which I would absolutely love to.

Well, you have a new friend. It's the magical part of new friends - hearing their stories. After a long time, you've heard them all, but the first few years can be really eye-opening.

Cookies ... stuff that leads to the greatest of stories ... or the Greatest Show on Earth ... human Circuit? Circus as singular ... a host can't see it because of multiple alternate propaganda! Poly Toads ...

The you've been toad again ...

I had the privilege of knowing George when we both were in the same presbytery. He had a delightful personality, and saw things from a different point of view from the rest of us. For instance I understand that he pointed out to his congregation the irony of so many homeless people in this city when many of the of the congregation had large houses and empty nests and summer cottages as well.

YUP ...
We talked about items like that when we were the only two on the GIT Comm. Etymologically incorrect as the entitled to more don't like to hear it ... the deeper they settle into avarice the more insecure they become ... satisfied souls? Unlikely ...

There a re great stories from intellectual quandaries of why this can be! i.e. Harold Bloom's ... like Heironicus Monk ... de flow ring is on the table ... blooming?

Thus some po' folk give up ...

Hope you have stocked up on warm clothes. It is about to get much colder in Winnipeg

If you haven’t tried skating yet, it is a great way to get fresh air, warm yourself up and meet people. And if you get a hockey stick you will be able to join into shinny games at local rinks. Eventually. Skating can be a bit tricky to learn if you haven’t done it before. But then it is great fun.

We have bought good coats, boots, scarfs, long johns, gloves, etc. as soon as we got here. Right now I'm wearing a light coat with a cashmere sweater because my goose-down coat is too hot for these temperatures. Also have different gloves, some lighter, some hotter, which I wear depending on the daily temperature. What I hate is walking with winter boots. That's really difficult. They're so heavy and uncomfortable. I'm a runners lover.
My wife loves skating and she'll have a few days off soon, so I might try! Thanks for the tips!

Don't - skating is awful and designed to kill people. Sharp narrow blades on the bottom of your feet are a bad idea.

Your long pointy foot extensions can be dangerous under some circumstances too! I know someone who was injured quite unpleasantly when one of his foot extenders went to the right of a tree while the other went left. Nasty.
