They are short of shovellers. It would get you out with people.

Someone has started an app to get your snow shovelled in Winnipeg. They are short of shovellers. It would get you out with people.

George messaged me proposing this meeting. It was wonderful and very cheerful to meet him personally! How did this personal meet-up come about?
He told me his story but I feel like there are a million underlying stories and many, many meetings are needed to hear them all - which I would absolutely love to.I don't know why it happened, but George and I failed to meet up when I crossed Canada and back again last fall. He might just have been retiring from his pastoral charge, or something; or we just missed each other, which is unfortunate, because George's early life seems to been quite similar to my son's path and I would have enjoyed hearing his stories. Glad you could meet up.

I had the privilege of knowing George when we both were in the same presbytery. He had a delightful personality, and saw things from a different point of view from the rest of us. For instance I understand that he pointed out to his congregation the irony of so many homeless people in this city when many of the of the congregation had large houses and empty nests and summer cottages as well.
We have bought good coats, boots, scarfs, long johns, gloves, etc. as soon as we got here. Right now I'm wearing a light coat with a cashmere sweater because my goose-down coat is too hot for these temperatures. Also have different gloves, some lighter, some hotter, which I wear depending on the daily temperature. What I hate is walking with winter boots. That's really difficult. They're so heavy and uncomfortable. I'm a runners lover.Hope you have stocked up on warm clothes. It is about to get much colder in Winnipeg
If you haven’t tried skating yet, it is a great way to get fresh air, warm yourself up and meet people. And if you get a hockey stick you will be able to join into shinny games at local rinks. Eventually. Skating can be a bit tricky to learn if you haven’t done it before. But then it is great fun.
